Yeah, the "window" Eloise was talking about was just...the island will be in this location for this amount of time. We still don't know if the plane crashed, if people were magically transported...
I hadn't given ANY thought to Ben going back to try and kill Penny. It's a good call.
I KNEW that one guy was going to be on the show when he had his "my condolences" line. It just reeked of I'm-going-to-be-an-actual-character.
we know the plane crashed, the losties found wreckage from an Ajira plane during one of the time jumps.
But did it crash when Jack, Hurley and Kate are, or in another time...
Remember Jack's line: "Did you see the plane?"
Ooh, I never thought of that. That maybe only Jack, Kate and Hurley ended up in the 70's, while the rest of the plane ended up elsewhere. I mean, when the Sawyer and crew found the stuff from the Ajira plane they were at the beach where the Lostie's camp was. Clearly not the 70's. So maybe Sayid and Sun and maybe even Jesus-Locke ended up in a time more recent, after the 815 crash.
They never found wreckage, they only found an empty water bottle.

I'm wondering if it's too soon to go back and rewatch Season 1. There doesn't seem to be much question they're going to be referring back to it: the opening last night was exactly how the show started (I even said "The eye again!" when it started focusing on Jack.
I remember when the pilot was on everyone made a big deal about "the show where the guy gets sucked into a jet engine" -- if only we knew!
I also think Ben went after Penny
But my question is(after watching it again a 3rd time, I am home sick) was it me or did Kate, Sayid, Hurley act weird around Jack, like they hadn't seen him in a while? Like they were upset by seeing him...maybeit is just me over thinking this time traveling stuff. And Sayid had less facial hair then he did in the previous episode.
Also when Mrs Hawking was stating a brilliant man put together the lampost station, do you think she meant Daniel?

i love that it's called the lampost station... that has to be a direct reference to Narnia! which i love those books!
oh and pretty much all the seasons have started with an eye, right? season 1 was jack's eye... season 2 was desmond's eye... season 3 was juliet's eye... season 4... well i think that started with a pile of bananas that hurley ran over... and season 5... didn't that start with dr. candle?
There have been several episodes (not just first of seasons) that started with the eye.
Another question -- isn't Ben supposed to never go back once he turned the wheel? Something about them getting back isn't sitting right...
Hurley freaked out and said Ben wasn't suppose to go back...so interesting
True...it wasn't that he wasn't "supposed to" go back, now that I think of it - wasn't it that he "WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO" go back? That's a big difference....
Ahh, but remember the exchange between Jack and Eloise "is he lying?" "probably"
You can't EVER take anything ben says at face value.
and Hurley when he freaked out never said anything about ben not going back, he said "he's not supposed to be here"
Was it Ben who said "I'll never be able to come back?" If so, what would be the POINT of that lie?
to make John believe that if he leaves the same way that he'll never be able to return.
So some people think Kate is pregnant. I don't...what do all of you think?
they had sex the night before the flight, conception can take up to like 72 hours, so I'm gonna go with no. although jacks sperm could still be fighting their way to her egg.
So glad everything's finally starting to come together. This season is so intense! I can't get over how genius it is.
I immediately thought that Kate was going to end up pregnant after her and Jack did it. And what exactly did Kate do with Aaron?? I want Aaron back with Claire, where he belongs.
The more I think about it, the more I think Kate actually DID something really really bad. It's not just that she gave Aaron up or that Aaron was taken from her - I doubt she went so far as to kill him, but she made a deal of some kind -- what I took for being upset at first I now think was pure guilt and self-loathing (the reason she slept with Jack as she did with Sawyer before)
Bumping for tonight -- The Life and Death of Jeremy Bentham. Sounds like it's going to be a good one! Set your DVRs late though - it runs till 10:06 according to Comcast....

good episode tonight... not my favorite but good nonetheless...
on another topic... what the hell is up with the 10:06 end time... jeebus... there were TONS of commercials tonight and that last commercial break before the end was about 5 minutes long and was just commercials for a couple new ABC shows and that Brother and Sisters movie event... geez... and here i was thinking the episode was going to be longer!
I noticed that too -- the commercials went on forever, especially that last one that ran from like 9:56-10:01. What was the POINT of all that?
Still, I agree - not the best episode ever, but a good one. It really outlined the battle between Ben and Widmore - the question is, are they both telling John the truth? The thing that would make me believe Widmore is that he did have Abaddon go around with him - what would be the point of that if he WASN'T telling the truth? Ben said he was just waiting to kill John - he had plenty of chances to do that, so I lost a little trust in Ben here.
The obvious big question from this episode was why in the world did John's mentioning Eloise cause Ben to kill him? That was VERY strange!
I loved the scene with Jack -- I thought that was some of the best acting Matthew Fox has done in the series - very nicely done.
I don't think it was the mention of Eloise that got to Ben. Watch the episode and look at Ben's expression with John says he won't take Sun back to the island: there's a definite change there (other than him learning that Jin is alive). I think that Ben intends to get EVERY PERSON back to the island, and he can't do that while John is alive because John will refuse to bring Sun back. But if John is dead, Ben has the ability to gather each of them.
This stuff going on between Widmore and Ben is fascinating. I have no idea who to trust, because Widmore seemed to actually help John and he certainly didn't kill him, despite countless opportunities. It's interesting learning that Widmore was the leader of the Others before Ben exiled him. What was the reason for the exile? Did Ben HAVE a real reason, or did he make it up so that HE could lead the Others?
Jason, I TOTALLY agree about Matthew Fox's acting in this episode. It was a particularly wonderful scene for him.
How about the folks in the plane crash? Why did Lepidus, Sun, and Sayid take off? (They did say it was the pilot and two others, right?)
EDITED because I apparently thought Jack was in Back to the Future.

I thought they said it was the pilot and a flight attendant (might it have been Cindy? but then, how the **** would she have gotten off the island and why would she be coming back if we haven't seen her in like 2 years.)
The appearance of and conversation with walt really struck me as odd as well. Afterwards, when Locke and Abbadon were talking there was a mention (i don't remember by who) about getting EVERYONE back. Does Walt count as everyone?
I rather enjoyed that episode. IT was quite good.
