If only she could also sing live. I realize we've been spoiled recently by singers who sing live. But it was all about throwback and FUN!

Bland performance that was just pure and unashamed lip syncing. Should be been Elton and Gaga together. That would have made for good tv.

Anyone who thinks that performance was bland must be nuts, im sorry but even as a huge Madonna fan i was shocked at how incredible the whole thing was. I can't believe they got the set etc up in 7 mins, that's crazy. Singing live would have been better (though she did on Like A Prayer) but it just really did not matter. It was fun, well thought out and epic. Bless her for falling though lol

It was a fun, appropriate performance. I LOVED it.
Who the hell would want black taffeta, blood and corpses at halftime. This is where Gaga has painted herself into an artistic corner. She's not very fun-she's too heavy and weird.
Madonna can just dance the hell out of anything and puts out like no other performer, even those half her age.
When you can do assisted cartwheels and back bends/flips on a moving platform at age 53, let me know. Haters back off.

Yes, they do that kind of complicated set up every year for every half time show. It's their thing. Having dispensed with having fans on the field gave them more room to work. It was fun enough to watch. It's a damn shame though that she didn't sing live. Like a person who sings.

Why is it ok for the national anthem to be lip synched but a performance so heavy with dancing and movement that will be seen by half the world and to ensure that it sounds good, not ok?

I expect nothing more than lip synching from the American Idol/Ron Paul contingent.

She sang live on one song, that was more than i thought she would do. It must be impossible to do a sound check etc in that space of time for a production that big. I hope that show represents what is to come on the tour, fun.

She's always been cutting edge on the video screens. spreading them out on the field (where fans are placed for lesser artists) was cool... the "world peace" thing seemed so weird since every song she sang was about herself...
And I'm pretty sure she only sang part of Like a Prayer and her mic was mixed very low.
