I agree about the World Peace thing. It seemed very out there. I did like "Like a Prayer." I know I'm in the minority, but the rest just was not that exciting. I guess I was just expecting more.

For a change the press seem to be for the most part heaping praise on the performance. She clearly worked so hard on that. I liked that her nerves were showing a bit, it was nice to see.

Why is it ok for the national anthem to be lip synched but a performance so heavy with dancing and movement that will be seen by half the world and to ensure that it sounds good, not ok?

Okay now, i found a response dealing with lipsynching and supporting it on a broadway message board, insane. Let's think shall me she is a 'singer' and was hired to 'sing'. So only REALLY singing one song is kinda oh i don't know cheap. Second, last i checked they didn't pre-record the anthems, as there is no need. Also how many guests did she have, i mean you all complain elton and gaga, but that really took the cake right there.

I really don't know what people expect for 12 minutes. It's not like anyone involved has a ton of prep time and a lot can go wrong. She delivered a fun, crowd-pleasing diversion with some nice effects we really couldn't appreciate at home.

No one performing at half time can ever really win. People are always wanting "more."

She created one of the biggest half time shows in memory. Oh and Im have to laugh at the person who says the rockers move. Um, yea. Prince and Bruce are doing squat thrusts, cartwheels and choreography while singing. Don't think so.

I would have preferred RAY OF LIGHT over MUSIC, but I can understand using MUSIC.

It was exactly what I expected. Madonna has no problem being silly and having fun. That is something GAGA still needs to learn how to do. She takes herself way too seriously. Being a little silly once in a while won't hurt her. I'll take Katy Perry over her any day.

I would have been happy to hate on her, but I really enjoyed it. It was as absurd as I'd expect a Madonna show to be, but with none of the tiresome preachiness I've come to expect from her.

I am a HUGE supporter/advocate of singing live. Period.

That being said - what would have happened if her mic(s) had gone out? Do you know how large those stadiums are? No one would have heard anything she or the chorus said. It's like singing in the grand canyon.

So to all of you "she should have sung live" or "I expected more" folks don't like it, please - with all your technical expertise - do tell us what you personally would have done if any of those technical glitches would have gone wrong. Go :)

In addition, let us not forget that the great Whitney Houston, a singer who did nothing more than stand there - lip-synced her national anthem during the Super Bowl oh-so-many years ago.

I thought the show was outstanding, clever, and great fun.

^ I just didn't like most of the song choices. Plus, she isn't a favorite artist of mine. To me, it just seemed boring. Part of my problem is her voice. I don't think it is very strong, and even lip syncing, you can hear that. I like singers with more meat to their voice, if that makes any sense.

She might not have the strongest voice, but due to her Evita training, she is quite a competent singer now.

I haven't watched the entire performance yet, but I am digging it. She seemed to stumble and be unsure of her dance steps in the beginning, though. It was very un-Madonna to me. I think it was exactly what a half time show should be, though.

It was a TV performance, designed for that medium.

You do realize that nearly all of the performances on American Bandstand, Soul Train, the Carol Burnet Show, and nearly all other music or variety shows from the '60s, '70s, and even '80s were pre-recorded, right?

Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY was lip-syncing back then. Bernadette Peters, Carol Burnett, the Jackson Five, etc. I just watched some old Carol Burnett Show DVDs. All but one or two performers (on dozens of episodes I viewed) were pre-recorded. Only if they were standing perfectly still and holding a microphone did they sing "live." If they danced one single step or appeared in a group, it wasn't live.

This was mostly for technical reasons, as I'm sure it still is today. If you pay to see a person "live" in concert, that's different. But a performance designed for broadcasting on TV? Staged in a giant arena? I don't get the disappointment.

Complaining about Madonna lyp-syncing her way through a half-time performance is like complaining about all of the numbers from Broadway shows that are performed at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade being pre-recorded. Who gives a f#@k? She was spectacular, in the truest sense of the word. From her Cleopatra-inspired entrance to the Like a Prayer finish, I loved every second of it! She's still The Queen, and she proved it.

I loved it.

She seemed to be enjoying herself and smiling a lot, which in turn made me smile. Of course I would have preferred live singing, but I'm not sure it's fair to compare her to the likes of Bruce...each performer has their own strengths and Madonna certainly played to hers.

Beyoncé is not an ally. Actions speak louder than words, Mrs. Carter. #Dubai #$$$

I am on record as rolling my eyes and shrugging annually when somebody starts a thread here guessing over which Broadway understudies will be lip synching at the Macys parade.

Even as a child I thought watching people lip synch on Bandstand, Soul Train, etc., was stupid. I just don't get what it is we're supposed to be doing? Agreeing that it is real? Pretending it's not a drag tribute with the real person instead of a drag queen look-alike?

I am also sure that a production THAT massive would have a back up plan if a mic cut out, I doubt it would all come down to that issue. Especially when you consider Prince, Bruce and The Stones all had fully functioning microphones.

But it was fine. It certainly wasn't a disaster of a pantomime, like Britney would do. The stupid single chorus has been stuck in my head ever since, so the promotion did its job.

My niece and her husband were at the Super Bowl so I asked her if it even seemed like Madonna was singing live there and she said the sound was mixed so funny and the bass was so loud, the Jumbotron was swinging and they couldn't hear the vocals. (Almost as if a mic had cut out?????)

The whole thing really was designed for at home viewers.
