Exactly. That's why I objected to the blogs that are filled with photos of empty buses with men stretched out (or, I admit, shots of guys who have their legs ever so slightly parts but not out of the realm of their "seat" which I think is a natural way for a man to sit--if I want to keep my knees touching each other I literally have to be constantly pressing them together which frankly gets tiring.)
And yeah, there's no way this is a new thing. Maybe it's more common with more recent generations simply due to public manners and the way men and women were to sit in public in general, but the only reason for the *sudden* upsurge is social media.
