We've learned Mel Gibson's wife Robyn has just filed legal papers to divorce Mel Gibson, her husband of 28 years, citing "irreconcilable differences." Basically she's tired of his drinking and womanizing. He's not. It's funny how couples can grow apart like that. Pretty ironic -- Robyn signed the papers the day before Good Friday. I know why she chose that day. Mel was busy with his own private "10 X The Passion of the Christ in 24 Hours Marathon."
Sources tell us there is no prenuptial agreement -- they were married in 1980, before Mel Gibson amassed a fortune estimated at $900 million back in 2006. Under the laws of California, community property -- which includes earnings -- is divided 50/50. Someone's going to be making some payments.
The Gibson's have 7 children, but only one -- Tom, who turns 10 tomorrow -- is a minor. In Robyn's legal papers, filed this morning in L.A. County Superior Court, she seeks joint physical and legal custody of Tom. Robyn is also asking for spousal support and attorneys fees. Robyn lists the date of separation as "to be determined." This is important, because earnings generally cease to be community property when the couple separates. Better order up some extra cheques, Mel. There could be a skirmish over this. We're told the couple grew increasingly apart over the last few years, especially since Mel's drunk driving arrest in 2006. Women. They're sooooo sensitive. You just know she's been nagging him ever since. He's probably all kinds of relieved.
There have been reports that Mel has been involved with another woman, which the actor denies, but we're told the reasons for the divorce go beyond any third party. What does that mean? Is there an eighth party? A 32nd party? If there is a fight, Robyn is in good hands - she's repped by Laura Wasser, who has handled divorces for the likes of Angelina Jolie, Britney Spears and Stevie Wonder.
UPDATE: Robyn and Mel Gibson just issued a statement: "Throughout our marriage and separation we have always strived to maintain the privacy and integrity of our family and will continue to do so." Yes, good luck with that.
The Enquirer, who has owned this story for a month's time, weighs in: "Enquirer readers knew that the long suffering Robyn had had enough weeks back when we first caught Mel with another woman and their long standing battles over his booze binges and fits of rage!"
Just a little Schadenfrude on my part.
Is Mel Blaming the Jews for this? Just asking?
While I'm not a fan, I don't find any joy in the pain this is causing him, his wife, and their children.

So Ultra-Conservative Catholic Mel Gibson is getting a DIVORCE?
It is, of course, all the Jews' fault.
28 years is a damn long time and because of Mel's faith, I bet this is really hard on him.I do feel bad for him. I also heard they did not have a pre-nup.Hard times for Mel!
I don't think they should be allowed to get divorced.
Their divorce is an attack on the sanctity of marriage.

Feel bad for him-why? Because he's getting a divorce?
More than half the marriages in this country end in divorce. Maybe you're worried about him having enough money?
Please. Karma's a bitch.

Gibson was interviewed by the Herald Sun in Australia, and the reporter asked the star if Protestants are denied eternal salvation. ?There is no salvation for those outside the [Catholic] Church,? Gibson replied. ?I believe it.?
He elaborated: ?Put it this way. My wife is a saint. She?s a much better person than I am. Honestly. She?s, like, Episcopalian, Church of England. She prays, she believes in God, she knows Jesus, she believes in that stuff. And it?s just not fair if she doesn?t make it, she?s better than I am. But that is a pronouncement from the chair. I go with it.?

Strangely enough, I do, seeing as he's a raging anti-Semite who turned a good percentage of gullible Christians against the Jews with his film that perpetrated the lie that Jews killed Jesus.
Let him burn in hell. If this is Jesus' love he's spreadin', I want no part of it.

Will Mel get the marriage annulled? If not, he'll have to wait for her to die before he can marry again.
Sorry, my cutting and pasting skills are somewhat limited. The quote is from the Toronto Star HOWever I believe the original source was TMZ. ( Yes I KNOW about as reliable as Perez but I felt cos the Star was picking it up it must be semicredible @ least)
And yes considering the crap he'd been pulling for years payback is karmic here and i am enjoying his financial discomfiture.

I passed him walking towards me by himself last fall. Crazy eyes. Seriously.
i myself am enjoying those who cite karma and then go on to say how much they are enjoying his troubles. it's almost as if they really don't understand karma. at all.

Remember the words of Yes as a cautionary note:
"Don't surround yourself with yourself,
Move on back two squares,
Send an instant karma to me,
Initial it with loving care..."
it's almost as if they really don't understand karma. at all
I understand karma.
I've looked at karma from both sides now, from up and down, and still somehow, it's karma's illusions I recall.
I really don't know life at all.

!. If you think I'm joyful, I never said that I was joyful about this. I couldn't care less what he does.
2. I consider a misfortune to be precisely what the word fortune means. It is something you can't help, like contracting a serious disease, or being born disfigured, or being mentally ill, etc. Getting divorced is not a misfortune.
