Would this be your type, at all?
Wohoo! Congrats! *pays for a round of absinthe*
So, if you could change one thing in your past, what would it be?
I don't know how I managed to double post with two posts in between, but I think it has something to do with Jaily being the CotD. He works miracles.

Wait?
He's never been CoTD??? How did THAT go unnoticed for so long.
Heads are gonna roll.
My questions:
What will your epitaph be?
What three things do you never leave home without?
What did you have for dinner last night?
If you were testifying before Congress, what would your topic be and why?
You may open your test booklets now.

So, where is our "queen for a day?"
A quick YAY! for J!
like any good homofag, he's going to be fashionably late.
are you offended by the term "straight acting" ?
how about the term "homofag" ?
OMG, you guys!!! *blush* This is so cute!! Thank you! :) I apologize for the lateness...I'm being worked to death here! I'll try to answer everything in order, during free moments.
(I don't know how it took so long for me to be COTD, either, dammit...)

This is weird. You haven't been CoTD yet? Strange...
But congrats! I adore you, Jaily.
RobbO, homofag is a term of endearment when it comes to Jaily.
And straight-acting is only offensive is the poor fella who utters it refuses to see just how it doesn't fit him.
Jaily, what's your favorite instrument to blow?
1) What inspires you?
Knowing that every day I wake up, I might do something I've never done before.
2) If you could spend 1 day with someone (dead or alive) who would it be and what would you talk about?
My grandmother, who was killed in a car accident four years ago. She was the single most important person in my life, and the only person who ever 100% supported everything I ever did, including my decision to reject medical school and study music. I would like to talk about everything I've done since she passed on, and I'd want her to tell me what's really waiting for us.
3)If you were putting together a scrapbook..what would be in it?
All of the programs I've appeared in (I LOVE seeing my name in print!), all the ticket stubs for shows I've seen, all my autographs, and the hall pass I took from Dennis Yohe in 6th grade that I still have in my current scrapbook.
4)Who is your favorite composer and why?
TOUGHIE!!! If I truly could only pick ONE, I would have to say Sergei Rachmaninoff. I have never met a piece of his that didn't move me in some way...his harmonic structuring is absolutely breathtaking, and he can turn three notes into the most heartbreaking melody you've ever heard, and then lift you back up a minute later.
5)If a Broadway musical was made of your life story, who would play you?
Anthony Rapp, obviously...if only for the look-alike factor!
6)Favorite show you've played for?
Another tough one...if we're speaking strictly Broadway, definitely Wicked. If you mean in general, ever...I'd have to say West Side Story. That score!!! Those flute parts!!! OY!
7)What question could I ask that has an answer that could actually shock us ("us" being those who have followed the confessions thread)? And what is the answer to that question?
Hrmm...hard query! Given the persona that I seem to have projected on this board, the most shocking thing I can imagine you hearing would be:
"Do you ever sit alone at night in your room and cry because you're terrified that you will never succeed at anything?"
"Yes."
Would this be your type, at all?
Oh, honey, no!
9)So, if you could change one thing in your past, what would it be?
Not a goddamn thing. (Well, I might have worked out more as a teenager...)
10)What will your epitaph be?
"Let it never be said that he wasn't fun to get drunk with."
11)What three things do you never leave home without?
My Metrocard, my sense of humor, and a pair of comfortable shoes.
12)What did you have for dinner last night?
A lamb chop, a broccoli/cauliflower mix, and sauteed asparagus in a balsamic reduction.
13)If you were testifying before Congress, what would your topic be and why?
"Now, can you tell me again why exactly you can bomb the planet, allow straight people to get married and divorced in one weekend and have 39,000 children that my tax dollars have to pay for, but I can't make a legal commitment to the man I love? Oh, and I love Condi's shoes."
Because...why not?
14)are you offended by the term "straight acting" ?
Only if it's being applied to me.
Thankfully, this is all just theory so far...it's never happened. :-P
15)how about the term "homofag" ?
If the ruby slipper fits...
16)My favorite instrument to blow?
The English horn...or a Puerto Rican.
Jaily, you should head up to my neighborhood.
Good answers, though!
So here's a good question as one instrumentalist to another (and I'm trolling for info!):
Where are some good pawn shops and whatnot in the city to pick up instruments?
hrm...I dunno about pawn shops in Manhattan, actually. I DID, however, recently buy a Louis Lot/SML flute (which is basically like stumbling across a Guarneri violin on the sidewalk) at a pawn shop on Flatbush Av in Brooklyn for 200 bucks, which I am having restored (at another ridiculous bargain) and will be using as my primary instrument. If you wanna see it, I'll post the after photos. It was BLACK with nasty tarnish and looked horrible when I got it...
You should poke around 48th Street between 7th and 6th, though...there are tons of music shops and there are treasures EVERYWHERE.
Congratulations. As Noel Coward telegrammed to Gertrude Lawrence on the opening night of Susan and God, her first non-musical production:
"LEGITIMATE AT LAST STOP WON'T MOTHER BE PLEASED"
I would have been horribly upset if you'd not come forth with a Coward moment during all this!
You've never let me down, darlin'
Very nice find indeed, Jaily!
A friend of mine from college found a treasure trove when a widow sold her husband's instruments (they had been in the attic for decades) but he had some absolutely incredible finds. I've been meaning to reclaim my instruments for some years now.
If I remember correctly, you were an oboe/English horn player, yes?
Did his social security pay for those instruments? Were they American made or foreign?
Jaily, my love, I will never let you down. Ever.
I think this is the point where Rath pops up and we sing "I Will Never Leave You" from Side Show...
I LOVE THAT SONG !!!
..I will never go away....
"Dinah, wontcha blow? Dinah, wontcha blow? Dinah wontcha blow my...ho-oo--orn?"
"Did his social security pay for those instruments? Were they American made or foreign?" Isnt Puerto Rico part of the US?
Congratulations jaily...
My usual:
If you were a pair of shoes, what shoes would you be and why?
If you could have anyone over for dinner, who would it be and what would you serve them?
If we went out with you and your best friend, what story about you would he/she tell us that you would not have?
My myspace rip-off questions:
What goal would you like to achieve this year?
Your weakness?
Your biggest fear?
First thought waking up?
Do you shower daily?
Have you been in love?
Do you get along with your parents?
Coffee or Tea?
Cats or Dogs?
"I think this is the point where Rath pops up and we sing "I Will Never Leave You" from Side Show..."
Erm...that's a duet...I will need to join Rath...around the hip.
