I think Rihanna's face during it explained everything. This year's VMA seems far superior to the others so far. Did Lady GaGa get booed at the beginning of her performance or was it a sound effect? I was amazed at how strong her voice was

It was a sound effect.
The VMAs tonight have HORRIBLE sound. The first 30 minutes had many periods where the sound cut out. Justin Timberlake's 20 minute concert has a HORRIBLE sound quality. Sounds distant and staticy and isn't leading from the mix.

^I agree. Ariana Grande during the pre-show was incredible. She supposedly gets compared to Mariah Carey a lot, and I'm still in shock she was not nominated for anything. Far more talented than some artists that were on that stage (not sayin' any names...)

Phyl do you like her or her music. I ask because I think we generally have similar tastes in music.
I think there has been one Miley Cyrus song that I like.
But her new album cover and single (Wrecking Ball) have me considering actually buying her new cd.

Posted: 8/26/13 at 3:07amI guess everyone on the Interwebs forgets who is in charge: MTV. MTV let this happen. Any one of those producers could've said "No" but they did not. She rehearsed the show this way. They knew what was gonna happen. They didn't stop the show because they knew how much they could milk out of it.

Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
