Greetings Friends!
Tomorrow I will be in the City with my partner for a taping of the show "Last Call With Carson Daly". My partner won tickets to sit in on this taping as Melissa Etheridge is going to be there and she is quite fond of the singer.
I was wondering if anyone has ever been to a taping of a show at the NBC Studios and what we might expect as participants of the audience.
What do the studios look like? (Big, small) How long is the taping going to take place? etc. Any insider info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
ARF
I've never been to a taping of that show, but I have been to tapings of the Rosie O'Donnell Show and The Caroline Rhea Show (which were in the same studio). My advice would be to get there early, even though you already have tickets...seating is first come first serve as far as ticket-holders go. Use the bathroom before hand, because you might be standing on the line for a while, and you can't always be sure when they will decide to bring the audience in. I know Rosie and Caroline's shows were taped live, so there was more of a usual schedule as far as time. Keep in mind that you will go through a metal dedector and have your bags checked, so the less things you bring, the more time you save.
If you get there really early, perhaps you two can go on the NBC tour. That way you can see where everything is taped, as well as get a feel for the place and ask any questions you might have about the taping of that particular show. I think the tour is less than a half hour long.
Have fun at the taping. :)
Oh sure, you drop off the face of the board and only come back when you want something! ![]()
WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN?
(Oh, and TheatreBaby gave good advice. But I would take the tour after.)
Have fun, and give our love to Melissa!
Thank you, Both! Sueleen, my sincerest apologies!! I've been busy in the music world and have had little time for the Board. So sorry, but I KNEW the experts to ask were here! ( :
TheatreBaby - silly question, but don't they have bathrooms AT the NBC Studios that we can use? We were asked to be there at 4:45pm and the taping starts at 6pm. Lord knows I have a teeny, tiny bladder, and finding bathrooms in which you don't have to purchase stuff, in NYC, is a pain! I was kind of hoping we could go through the detectors, make a run for the bathrooms, and THEN sit down. No go?
Ahh, the stupid stuff!
And we WILL pass our "Hellos" on to the Rock Diva!
lol It's not a stupid question.
Yes, they do have bathrooms which you can use once you get upstairs.
Like I said, I've never been to a "Last Call" taping, so I don't know if it's the same. But when I would go to the other talk shows, we would have to stand on this one line on the second floor (which we got to by escalator) for a really long time, then in groups of like 10 we would be brought down to the metal detectors, then brought up-upstairs by elevator where you could use the bathroom.
But before you get up to that bathroom, you might be standing around on lines for a while. That's why I think you should ask when you get there; because I'm not completely sure if it's the same system. ![]()
But there are free bathrooms on the sub-level. Once you go into the building, you go down any flight of stairs. There are some places to eat, some little shops, entrances to subways, and bathrooms. You can use that before you go through the metal detectors. :) And of course, if need be, you can go again once you are upstairs in the studio area.
TheaterBaby - THANK YOU SO MUCH! I appreciate all of your insight. Just a little knowledge of what to expect can make an event more enjoyable. Thank you for taking the time, and not making me feel silly about my line of questioning.
Have a great evening!
