Addy might be able to set it up.
I feel bad for those Queens workers who are already on strike. They are clearly being used as pawns. And as for the $25,000 a day fine? They would never be able to get that money from the workers. I think the two days of pay is a more realistic and threatening fine amount because it is tangible.
And I keep seeing live reports with no new news. Argghh!!
I was talking to my uncle about this yesterday. He works for the SEC. He says that if the transit problems end up causing problems for the stock market, a bunch of people will have to come up from DC to oversee everything. Because of the selfish MTA workers, his staff may have to give up their holiday plans to clean up someone else's mess.
What's the probability that they are going to strike?

*this strike is a MAJOR deal, so I MUST interject*
The MTA maybe moneyhungr @$$holes who want to give us crappy service, accompanied by rising fares in order to more fully line the wallets of their administration, but I don't think they are stupid, and I DO think they plan things...
Am I the only one who finds the timing of events here HIGHLY suspisious?? MTA officals KNEW that the contract expired in December around the Holidays and they KNEW that a strike would be likely. This year, they also decided to be 'generous' and offer discounts/several days free on Metrocards. They set them up so that these bonuses, no matter when you purchased the card during the 'holiday fare' period, would expire on Jan 2. They alos instated this without the prerequisite hearings, which led many to call these dicounts 'illegal'. Am I the only one under the impression that the MTA gave these discounts now while anticiapting a strike, so that any "discounts" purchased would mostly likey go un used and not cost them a red cent but still possibly allowing them to look generous in offering those to us?
guy2- I have thought about that. Part of me wants to trust the only mode of transportation that I take in the city but part of me sees WAY too many coincidences.
