Or people who insist on reading the newspaper fully open at arm's length.
NOT THE F*CKING MARIACHI BAND!!!!
Look...I'm all for people trying to make a buck...but I got one requirement...to get my money, you gotta be a better singer than me. I save a lot of money that way!
and now the taxi coalition is saying that they are encouraging their drivers to stay at home if there is a strike just so they can prove a point? that just ain't right at all. this city is going to suck on Friday if this really happens.
I also hate the men who think that their genitals are so huge that they must sit with their legs spread wide open not allowing the people next to them any bit of space for their average size genitals.
and I hate the guys who do tumbling on the train. I don't need to be worried that I may be hit in the head with a size 12 Nike because some kid is doing backflips on the 7 train.
Not MTA, but on DC's metro its the same way. People who are that rude should be forced to walk everywhere and not have the privledge of riding the subway. Last time I was on the subway one person was coming off the train so there was plenty of room for me to slip by her. When I did so, not even coming close to touching her or getting in her way a mother loudly pointed out to her children that I was rude and that you should never act like that on the subway. I ignored it and sat down. There were plenty of seats available, but her kdis insisted on standing up. They didn't just stand though, they ran around and swung on poles and danced and sang and annoyed the crap out of everyone on the train. That I guess is not rude.
i was missing nyc for about a split second before reading this thread
now, not so much...
it brought back painful memories of having to be pressed up against people i didn't care to be pressed up on and enduring bad body odor for the duration of a long torturous train ride...
and the 7 train? ::shudders:: i guess it's gotten much worse.

"and the 7 train?"
It's nickname is the Orient Express. And no I am not joking.
so they've finally taken over Flushing, huh?
it was only a matter of time...
I have never heard The Orient Express before. That is so rude and so funny.

This website gives a few references of the NY Times calling it the "Orient Express"
#7 train
And I had another nightmare trip to midtown thanks to the lovely MTA this evening.
I swear to God, if they get what they're asking for, we should have the right to yell at them every time there is another screwup. I mean, we get to yell at whatever transit worker is there. As loud and as long as we want.
Rath
you have the right to do that now. And I guarantee with or without the settlement - they'll have the same reaction :)

If you can find them. Lately, all you see are these little signs up that say "I'm the customer service person standing on the platform in the burgundy vest". When you go to look there is nobody there.
I am happy that they have been forced out of the booths. At least they can't just sit in there and talk on the phone and ignore us. They have to stand up now. People are making such a big deal about there maybe not being people at the booths but really what have they ever done except be rude? They never help you.

sherman, my sister once saw some guy with his legs spread apart and said to him "C'mon you can't be THAT big." He laughed and moved over so that she could sit.
I am trying to find out who the "worker" is at main st station. Every morning I arrive & he is standing there doing absolutley nothing
Another thing I like is regularly they knock you off @ 111 th St so you have to wait for the next train. Sometimes they announce it is going to main street & than they fake you out & let you off 2 stops before the end
I would also like to know who is supposed to turn the escalators on. I think they get their rocks off as they sometimes have the up one on & than vice versa. They apparently get sick perverted pleasure out of watching people ( especially elderly) struggle to climb the stairs on the escalator as they have them turned off
Transit Worker is an oxymoron. I have been fighting back. I printed up ( in big bold letters ) Screw The TWU. I leave them on trains & where they will see them all over the Main Street station
I am having a surprise birthday party for my husband this weekend at a restaurant in midtown. I'm slightly crazed that a transit strike could seriously impact who is able to show up.
Mr. Roxy, I love that!! We should all do that. It won't help, but it feels good, right?
Feels great if you must know
My wife will drive me to work & pick me up so it will not effect me at all. I love the Rev Al & Jesse J standing up for the workers. What about all those in the minority community that will have to pay higher fares to pay for their bloated salary/benefit package ?
I am now going to start shoving people who don't let me off the train. That sounds fun. I'm tired of making snide comments as I pass them.
On the Main Street stop many times in the morning there is a horde of people who will not let you get off & push into the care
I do one of 2 things. If there is a very big person in the car ( like a linebacker) I stand behind him & let him use his body as a battering ram & I tailgate him. It is so much fun watching these morons who possess not a whit of etiquette bounce off him. If there is no one like that, I use my briefcase as a battering ram & plow right thru them hurling a few well placed adjectives ( which many do not understnad) as I come out. All the while, the TWU workers (not) are standing there doing nothing as usual. It is so much fun . Sometimes you just fight fire with fire. I tried being nice but it does not work. Will Rogers Never Met A Man I Didn't Like would get the acid test here
If the taxi drivers want to join in by saying screw the people, people should remeber it & next time walk instead of taking the cab

This whole thread has me in stitches right now.
I can't express how greatful I am to not be in NYC right now.
So if the strike happens, I won't even be able to take a cab to Queens? Absolutely ****ing wonderful.
