Oh right. Mimi moo's too

As for the netting "incident" - I find it difficult to believe (sorry) but I work d/t where there is HIGH security just about year round (and right now quadruple) and while swat teams, helicopters and lots of foot patrol were rushing around my building today - not one NET to be seen. I find it very hard to believe that in a very populated area they would release "nets" on people unless a riot was going on - and even then, I'd be surprised. Color me a skeptic...

I have NO TROUBLE believing the net business after what I went through this weekend! I have found that apparently our civil rights are allowed to be violated, just for the week, while Georgie Boy is in town!

Shesings. To each their own. I've been watching the news most of the evening. They had reports of the post office that had the radiation leak accident, the incident down near me. Nothing about midtown "netting"

Well, I wouldn't count on the mainstream media for total accuracy.

hmmm... to add to Craig's post; and to rain on the parade- I was in the theatre district tonight and saw no nets :/ It was very orderly, and the cops were relaxed and talkative.

Okay, I just saw the orange nets on the news. They used them to push back people. They were not thrown over anyone.

New York Uniq- They are the best bunch of people.
Who did you meet? Steph? John? Rick or Jen? Updated On: 9/1/04 at 12:03 AM

I stayed in Milford Plaza Sunday through today and honestly, I didn't see or hear anything out of control. From what I saw in the days I was staying in there *which I only did to avoid the commute during the RNC* I didn't see any problems at all. I thought the police were doing a great job keeping everything under control.

And hang on, when did you win the discus?

They hit several people.
I was thankfully not hit. But it happened.
Jen is very nice. She has a very deep voice. I like all of them equally but Jeff Marx is my favorite.

Almost getting tapped with a net should be the worst thing that ever didn't happen to you. Updated On: 9/1/04 at 12:10 AM

Lock 'em up!
Put 'em away
In the Jar!
Time to start getting the nets out!
Lock 'em up!
Into the cage!
Quietly
No one must know.
Cart 'em off
Into the bin,
Turn the key.
Quick before anyone gets out!
Turn the key,
throw it away,
There we are.
Forty-eight to go!

Now I'm confused.

"I was walking back from work in Midtown (on my way to Rent)and some police officers were throwing nets on innocent people.
I was almost hit with a net."

and then

"I was shaken. I said in my nicest voice (sort of like Glinda the good Excuse me Mr policeman. I have to be at a Broadway show and I would really appreciate it if you would let me go."

Were you detained? Were you caught in a net? Did they only let you go since you had to see a show - I mean had a press badge?

Thirdrow-
It was no big deal. I was however scared of missing Rent again.
I had great seats, row c orchestra left.
It was the only thing I have seen this week. Nothing really bad.
It is just a bit of a pain in the ass getting around the City.
If I missed Rent I would have been VERY PISSED.

I'm sorry -- this is JUST wrong -- to compare the city tonight to the likes of 9/11 when some of us lost loved ones that day is tasteless and out of line.....

I have never seen the City this out of control since Sept 11th. "

It was no big deal now, or was it chaotic? I'm so confused
