Good night. Updated On: 9/1/04 at 12:51 AM
What's scary is that's right about where BROADWAY ON BROADWAY is going to be. Is it safe to go???????

All this poor theatre goer wanted to do was see Mamma Mia! Updated On: 9/1/04 at 12:53 AM
you are one sick cookie lady-- how dare you claim to have lost "friends" on 9/11 and continue this tirade -- I have never been so insulted and hope to hell I never have a friend like you....if you think changing the name of the thread will work ...think again....

What a terrible picture. But........
WHERE ARE THE NETS!!???
Methinks the nets are in Corine's mind like half the other stuff she posts.
matty, you're swimmming in mammamia sammy's waters aren't you?

Oh, those poor tourists who got netted tonight. Being in NY is intimidating enough. I bet they all feel like fish out of water.
OH.......sorry about that. No pun intended.
Robbo, if I were swimming in Mamamia Sammy's water right now I would be spouting non stop horendous lies about someone for no reason whatsoever.
Do not EVER compare me to him/her again.
you're just singing the same song over and over. other people see things and get it without it being bashed into their heads. let it go. breathe. relax.
Robbo, don't compare me with that person again. Got it?

Don't be angry at Robbo, Matt. Who knows? He may have been netted earlier!!!
or what? you'll type something else. relax there, champ.
Oh, see I hadn't thought of that. SORRY!
oh no RObbo - -this one is different -- someone who started this thread crossed the line and compared an event that has yet to make one news source to a day when some of us lost their most tresasured lovers and partners...Matt's simply being a good friend and sticking up for others..
kmf, it's about perception. to her, the day's events felt out of control like 9/11 - to her. you cannot hold her accountable if she did not suffer a loss that day as other may have. it's a volatile subject and one that obviously stirs many emotions.
KMF-
I did not mean to offend anyone. I am very sorry if I had.
Can we please give Peace a chance.
Oh and KMF i did suffer a loss that day, three. They were not family but they were dear friends.
I am sorry if you were offended. I was just scared and it was a bit much today.

I am terribly sorry for your loss Corine and I mean that sincerely -- there is not a day that goes by that I have not thought about all of the losses we have all suffered that day -- -- both in lives, spirit and hope -- I am not one to judge the depth of the loss -- some of us lost lovers, partners, spouses, brother, sisters, mother, fathers and friends-- but the simple fact that you continued to go on about showing your press pass and all...like I said -- I can't help but feel pity and hope that I never have friends like that
this will be my last post to this thread -- unless it needs to be bumped up
bump
if you look closely in this picture, you can see the red NETTING.
Red NET
Chorine, how HORRIBLE! That you had to sit through RENT I mean.
Actually, Rob, I think that is silly string.
another view. i guess things can exist even if you personally did not see it or it is not on ABC Eyewitness News.
More NETTING

I don't even know where to begin. So let me take it from the initial post.
"I was walking back from work in Midtown (on my way to Rent)and some police officers were throwing nets on innocent people. I was almost hit with a net."
Tell me, Brenda Starr, how do you know they were innocent people? If you were, in fact, innocent and were not entrapped, perhaps the police actually knew what they were doing and and only ensnared those they were targeting. Did you see what precipitated the pitching of what appears to be a plastic snow fencing? (You know, the type of plastic fencing often used as a temporary barrier.) Did you see what drew the officers' attention towards this group? Or did you happen upon a police incident in progress? What makes you believe these people were innocent victims of police abuse and civil rights violations because that is exactly what you imply in your post.
The throwing of plastic fencing seems to me a very mild and no-injurious way of dealing with a crowd. Perhaps, Corine, you would have preferred they "pepper sprayed" and contaminated the area to any innocent people passing through. Have you ever experienced police pepper spray, not the commercial crap but actual police pepper spray? Trust me...even a small exposure and you'd be missing RENT for a second time.
"But it was still the scariest thing to ever happen to me.
I am pretty lucky. (KNOCKS WOOD)"
Lucky? No, blessed beyond believe if that's the scariest thing you've ever encountered. You witnessed something and you were scared. Here's something truly frightening. Do you think the worlds is going to get any less scary?
And another thing, it's Jai Rodriguez. That's who's name you were seeking. Jai as Angel in RENT. Jai in ZANNA DON"T. Give the man his credit.
And the most inflammatory comment I saved for last. It comes from musicalfandukie who wrote, "cops are not human i tell ya!!
Now I don't know if this was a comment that came out of a misguided sense of humor, ignorance, or hatefulness, but I find this type of comment offensive. Was this meant to be a blatant insult? Or a jocular flippancy? If so, I don't get it.
I am reminded of the wise words... "hath not a [cop] hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions? fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subject to the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer? If you PRICK us, do we not bleed?
On 9/11 did they not stand beside other emergency workers and risk their lives? Are they not like the firefighters and medics who run EVERYDAY towards disasters while others flee in the opposite direction. Why are they not shown the same respect? While others run from a hazard they approach (minus the protective gear). Why? Because that's what they do. No one wants a cop around until they need one. And then there's never ENOUGH of them and they never respond quickly enough because suddenly seconds seem like endless minutes. Not human, huh? Maybe it does seem that way that's because sometimes they're expected to handle things, the unsavory aspects of life, that most of society doesn't want to deal with.

Corine darling, the police were using fishnets and they were trying to capture you in them because they thought you were a guppy.
