Congrats to Joannie!!!! Thrilled out of my mind for her!!
I'm happy with that. Glad she came ahead of Miki Ando who was scored too high on both her short and long programs.
Oh, I am thrilled for Joannie Rochette!
I truly am.
"Excuse my ignorance, but how does one get to be a judge?"
Oh that? you just have to be easily bribed!
Bronze is tonight's Gold!
Absolutely, Addy.
...I'm crying watching her smile and try to hold everything in.
I can't imagine.
I don't think it's vindication for her mother's death.
I don't think so, and I don't think the judges do either, but it will be all over the news tomorrow regardless.
We'll see.
I think the world will conduct themselves with class when it comes to this story.
And, on that note, I bid you all good night! I enjoyed sharing the late evening with you!
Go our Joannie!!! Good on yer ma cherie!
Some IOC countries will be classy and clean others *HACK* British*HACK not so much.
We can fly them home via Mirabelle airport ( bwa hahaa!)
Glad Joannie made it to the podium. I was getting tired of Scott Hamilton screaming at every jump. Not crazy about his commentating.
Well off to the couch to put my leg up! The pain has set in.
I'm thrilled for Joannie! God love her!
Kim did a fantastic job and well deserved the gold. However, Mao's program impressed me the most tonight. It's dark, powerful, bold and ambitious. Not perfect but sensational nonetheless.
Dear NBC, is it that difficult to get one of your production assistants to find out exactly how to pronounce Joannie Rochette's first name? I haven't heard it the same way twice, and really think it's disrespectful.
Rochette's was totally a sympathy vote. Nagasu should've gotten bronze.
And Kim was rated way too high above Asada, who landed TWO triple axels so there shouldn't have been that big a gap.
I would have put Marai Nagasu on the podium. She was gorgeous. Kim Yu-Na was exquisite.
I loved the way Marai skated, but there was still a significant point spread between she and Joannie Rochette. I thought Marai's scores were fair in comparison to the way Rachel Flatt was scored, considering she went from 4th to 7th in the end.
Marai's program was actually my favorite of the evening.

I agreed with the gold and silver medals, but I agree that some of the scoring was skewed. Rochette was given the home town grieving girl bronze!

This has been a fantastic week for the Canadian women. How wonderful that Clara Hughes, the hockey team, the bobsleigh and short track ladies, and Joannie all got medals. Well done to all!
Don't care if it's a sympathy bronze, I'm thrilled it happened. I also don't really think it was. I think Marai's program didn't have the technical difficulty of the top ladies, and therefore had a very hard time catching up. But she's sixteen. And she's the future of Amercian skater. She's the closest to capturing Kwan's emotionality and technical beauty and I've seen in quite some time.
Well the Canadian women's hockey team are in a bit of hot water. I am sure everyone knows about them coming back out on the ice to drink and smoke cigars after the medal ceremony. The report I read said that there was one 18 year old player drinking. I am assuming the drinking age is 21 there?
It's actually 19 in British Columbia. (18 in the rest of Canada).
It was unfortunate that they stayed in that venue for the party... not the best of choices. Where was the coach? Very disrespectful!
19, uncageg. It's 18 where she's from, but not in Vancouver.
SonofRobbieJ, I thought Marai captured Michele Kwan's essence as well. Her spins were absolutely gorgeous last night and definitely the best of the bunch.
The Canadian ladies hockey team's celebration was vulgar and I would be saying the same thing if the men were celebrating in that fashion as well. Very tacky.
I agree. No other athletes celebrate in this way.
