Yes, and this one from Japan was so removed from her routine.

I totally agree, but apparently some of her triples were graded as doubles. Laura Lepisto (Finland) scored a few points higher.
If Miki Ando scores higher for that lethargic program I'll be through!
Addy, they thumped her on the component scores and I'm not sure why.
Rachel got clobbered by the judges. Two of her jumps were downgraded, and she got no love on the Grade Of Execution, where the judges can add or deduct points for how well a move was executed.
What b.s.!!
Ando's score, that is.

Ando's scores were ridiculously high.
It's been interesting to learn about the scoring - I learned things I'd not known prior to this Olympics.
But, I think Rachel's score was too low!
And agree, Dottie and Girly, that the other was too high!
I'm like the Goldilocks of scores.
Too low....
Too high....
No pleasing me!
In contrast to Rachel, Ando was not downgraded for any jumps, despite being demonstrably short of rotation on her triple lutz.
Ando's performance lacked any kind of musicality.
None of these programs are as *exciting* as programs I've loved in the past.
They're all so measured. No real abandon.
Rachel's came the closest to sheer exuberance.
I am probably in the minority, but, I just don't FEEL it as much tonight.
That was very nice.
"Long live the queen?"
That's a bit much.
But, Kim's program was lovely, and she's a beautiful young lady.
For being under such incredible pressure, Kim Yu-Na's performance was truly remarkable.
I didn't think Ando should have scored first over Flatt. But that's history already.
Addy, neither do I. Usually I sitting yelling "yes" when a jump is landed. But I will admit to saying, "fall, fall, fall" when Ando was skating!
These programs are all about, "how many points to I get for such and such". They're all so calculated which has to do with that lack of abandon and joy while they're skating.
Kim's program was truly lovely. Magnificent.
To score her 25-30 points higher than any other skates removes any shred of credibility there might have been for the judges.
madbrian, I AGREE!
To me it looked like 40 points higher so far.
madbrain, I was thinking the same thing following the short program scores. I couldn't believe that Kim's performance was 6 points better than Mao's.
This music is too dark for someone so petite and beautiful. She should be skating to something light and joyful.
Dottie, what you added to your previous post is exactly right. It's more about the elements and less about the overall feel and just pouring themselves into the skate.
I know the commentators seem thrilled. I'm not on the same page with them.
...but I AM enjoying it!
