What Was This Thread About Again?

You don't need to wait for the reunion show. The teaser for the next challenge brings nasty old Korina back, and TEAMS HER with Chaq. I was relieved that she was gone - don't know how much more bitchiness I can take from her, when she isn't even talented enough to justify watching her work.

What Was This Thread About Again?

It was so satisfying to watch that insufferable, entitled bitch get sent home.

And MAZEL TOV, KINI!

Korina is the living embodiment of the voice in your head who says you're not good enough. I'll give her this, I was totally expecting her to sell out her team member. She at least owned it.
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.” ~ Muhammad Ali

If Kini's winning three (or four?) challenges doesn't justify a little sense of entitlement, that soccer ball dress did. Just brilliant.

What Was This Thread About Again?

I agree about the soccer ball dress. Wow! I was worried that Kini was all sewing and no design, but that was really inventive.

***

Reality Competition Hall of Fame Moment: Korina attacks Char and blames Char for destroying all of Korina's dreams, and then, when Char tries to defend herself, Korina retorts, "This isn't about you, Char!"

Korina is why we can't retire the "C" word entirely. (But we should adopt the British system of using it for men and women alike.)

Korina-

Kudos to Char for making the better dress in an hour and for, as Heidi said "making smart choices." Char may not be the best designer on the show but she definitely showed poise under pressure, that counts for a lot.

"Can't wait to see the reunion show."
They have reunion shows? I don't think I've ever seen one.

Holy **** balls. What a terrible person. I imagine she's going to have difficulty getting work in the industry after next week's ep has aired. Although I enjoy this show for the craft far more than the drama, I gotta agree that it was incredibly satisfying to see her cut. Sometimes it's obvious that a show like this is choosing footage in order to create characters like "biggest bitch in the universe", but clearly in this case, the producers were working with what Korina gave them. Also, I know this is a catty and shallow thing to say, but even Korina's model is, well, challenged.

BTW, loved Sean's cheeky comment about Char eventually being an easy sheep to slaughter.
#185

What Was This Thread About Again?

Sean's comment about Char was ironic, since I think Sean is on the knife edge, too.

What Was This Thread About Again?

Not to be a defender of Korinna per se, but it's instructive to read Tom&Lorenzo's take on the whole Korinnagate affair. It's true that producers didn't require her to say any of the odious things we heard, but these were clearly pulled forward from all the other possibly innocuous comments she might have made in the course of the 2 days.

You all know that the producers asked ALL the contestants to critique their fellow designers' work, but only Korinna's negative comments were aired, right?

Also, regarding her rebuff to Char that "It's not about YOU", I agree with TLo when they spell out that who Korinna was really condemning were the manipulative producers who deliberately pulled every string imaginable to keep Char in the show so that the infamous Tim Save wouldn't be wasted. Korinna rightly saw herself being shown the door despite everyone clearly viewing Char as having the weaker garment on the main runway. That lame 1-hour challenge has shown up around this time in several other seasons where the producers needed to pull the rug out from other winning designers who for some reason were already scripted to NOT make it to Fashion Week.

Ooooh, it makes me so mad....
#187

What Was This Thread About Again?

The top 5 show at Fashion Week anyway.

It's tough cause I think Char and Korinna are kind of the same. Neither are that designer that really surprises you, even her rug coat wasn't that amazing, but they aren't terrible either. They'll be just fine.

I'm rooting for Amanda!

Somewhere -

I read Tom & Lorenzo's take. I agree with it, I second their opinions that the show isn't necessarily about who is the best designer or talent. But rather, (just like all the other reality contest shows) about creating a narrative and casting characters, unfortunately or fortunately, as we'll never really know, Korina got cast and edited as the bitch this season. Which isn't new, I remember the first season it was Wendy Pepper, then Kenley Collins and so on.

I get that when Char's zipper broke that could be perceived as Char being saved for a second time, But when Tim Gunn asked all the designers if they wanted to give Char ten extra minutes, someone should have spoken up. Nobody had the balls, including Korina.

On the other hand, Korina’s ego trip has been a problem since the beginning. And the camera doesn't really lie. She's never really had a nice thing to say about anyone.

Agreed, and the way I look at it is that if their zipper had broken, they'd want those extra ten minutes too, right?

But I have to say I'm SUPER SHOCKED that they liked Emily's outfit. Oof it was so ugly. Maybe it read better on the runway, but it looked rough on TV.

The top 5 show at Fashion Week anyway.

Actually, it's more than five. Everyone from Fade on showed at Fashion Week. You can find their collections at T&L.

I guess this isn't a spoiler because we won't see them on TV, but Korinna's final collection has some lovely leather (or vinyl) vests/jackets and not much else. IMO, Fade might have been a contender had he not been eliminated previously. He uses prints brilliantly in his collection.

(I do have a favorite, but I see nothing to be gained from discussing contestants who are still in the running.)
#191

What Was This Thread About Again?

Didn't know that! Yeah, Fade's piece that he was eliminated on was beyond terrible, though.

Well, we've seen all the nasty stuff she's said about others, but the editing is just the stuff they want us to see. We have no idea if she said nice things about others or not. But it was nice to see karma biting her in the ass for her nastiness.

Yes, everyone who will still be on the show when Fashion Week occurs gets to show a "decoy" collection. Obviously, only 3 or 4 are actually still in contention. PR does this to keep journalists from spoiling the final three.

I agree about Fade. It's a shame because I love his final collection, but the judges had no way of knowing how well he would do with some time that when they cut him.

What Was This Thread About Again?

So, a couple of things...

1 - completely agree with the top 3 going to fashion week. I could take or leave Char, who is clearly the fourth choice, though she certainly does have a good eye for color. I thought her purple dress look like she accidentally got a bunch of pin cushions stuck to it, but what do I know?

2 - I love Amanda - smart, funny, sensitive - but I didn't love that street-wear dress as much as the judges. I did think Sean's look lived up to the judges' hype, though. Stunning.

3 - Is it just me or does Korina look like she might be a terribly scarred burn victim who had some kind of weird Kabuki-esque "face mask" created for her by a deranged surgeon? I wonder if she's watching the show.

4 - Do you think Tim Gunn just habitually says "we're going to hear a lot more from you" to every single person he meets? Like, does he say that to his cab driver when he gets dropped off? Does he say it to the tortilla girl at Chipotle?

What Was This Thread About Again?

OH GOD JUST LET THIS HORRIBLE SEASON DIE IN ITS CRIB!!!!

That was some bullsh*ttery that got Char to the final. BULLSH*TTERY. Both pieces by Emily were several orders of magnitude greater than Char's. BULLSH*TTERY!!!!

That Kini ruffle skirt was tragic. The top was ugh. The trench was great, though...and his reworked gown was spectacular.

I think Sean's Pinky Tuscadero creation was trannylicious! Hilarious. And his white outfit was beautiful, but wear that once on a NYC street and you will get stains that can never be removed.
#198

What Was This Thread About Again?

I agree with the top three. Have been the three I chose from week one. Was a somewhat easy season to see who was going to make it. Char not sure why they are sending her other than giving her a spot for having to deal with Korina. Korina this week I would think just put the nail in her professional career.

#199

What Was This Thread About Again?

The top three were my guesses right from the beginning too.

I think they included Char just so they can have a challenge at fashion week where they remove her. They're probably thinking, she's already part of the decoy collection so it wouldn't cost them more to have her be a finalist even though she's nowhere as good as the other three.

What Was This Thread About Again?

I thought Korina was pretty civil when she was partnered with Char. She would have been a big bitch to anyone she had to help and asked to not participate. I kind of respected that.

Her face looked very... tight... last night.
