The Closing Ceremony is scheduled to be held in the Stade de France, the national stadium. It is the largest stadium in France, with a seating capacity of around 81,000.
Yes the US usually does really well during the tournaments, and those only finish during the second week. In Tokyo, China was leading the gold medals until the last day when the us won in golf and beach volleyball giving them most gold medals
Just watched the Women's Triathlon Final. I don't know which events are considered to be the most physically challenging, but this has to be right at the top. They swim, they bike, they run. Wow. "Brava" to each of these Olympians. They're all winners.
Very enthusiastic spectators lining the streets for an emotional finish. And the views of the City were beyond beautiful.
Some years ago I was briefly acquainted with a 30-ish gentleman who was a "Race Walker". I have always been what I call an "Exercise Walker". I don't run, but I walk fast and have completed a bunch of events. He had won some Race Walking races and taught me the basics. One foot must remain on the ground at all times. Doing so gives the walker an odd gait and looks kinda funny. It wasn't for me, and I didn't pursue it as an activity.
But, I do love those rare occasions when I can watch televised Race Walking events, as with the Olympics. So, of all the events being held in Paris, my favorites have been the Men's and Women's Race Walking.
Just an incredible two weeks. Paris outdid themselves and so did the athletes. Watching the closing ceremonies and just don't, as always, want the Olympics to end!
"Who cares about the medal count. It's the sportsmanship that matters. They are all winners."
This is a sports competition which is why probably 99% of the people watching it care about the medal count. These are adult athletes competing not some child competition where "everybody is a winner". That being said, everyone who makes an Olympic team should consider that quite an achievement and deserves credit for that accomplishment.

Absolutely agree! I am thrilled for every single athlete and team, win or lose, no matter which country they represent. I don't give a flying fig about medal counts.
