You need to look up syllogistic reasoning to understand why your argument is fallacious.
You also need to familiarize yourself with the anti-apartheid movement in the US.
Until then you are an uniformed person repeating pre-existing soundbytes already digested for you by the mainstream media.
Communism didn't crush anyone, unless someone dropped a giant copy of Das Kapital on you. Dictators crushed people.
oh so now the MSM is conservative?!?!?! thats the dumbest thing youve ever said and thats saying a lot. if you werent so smug and condescending you would realize that.
Stalin? Castro? Mao??? great guys Kad?
...can you even read?

You realize you just keep changing what you're talking about, right? Thatcher was on the wrong side of history. Calling Nelson Mandela a terrorist is something Jesse Helms would do. (Look him up.)
Kad those dictators were communists, i guess if you want to go tomatO/tomAto i dont get the difference.
they stole property... they killed dissent....they took any free expression, and ambition and crushed it. the govt ran everything...its hard to imagine what thats like here but it just try... i know some here think thats a good idea but careful what you wish for.
There's a difference between the actions of men and the philosophy they claim to support.
so KAD, i want to give you the benefit of the doubt, are you saying Communism is good thing?
if you know any Cubans, Russians, Poles, Czechs, Chinese that have lived it. i would suggest you talk to them. Even our President who thinks the Govt solves all would disagree (i think) with that
I don't believe I displayed a judgment of communism either way. I believe that, as conceived, it's an idealistic but ultimately unfeasible philosophy.
What was enforced by the USSR and combatted by the US for decades was not pure communism.
I do believe that America needs a strong central government.
And for all of the evils of socialism there sure seems to be a lot of happy people living in Norway!

Kad is saying that communism and socialism (btw, very different and in fact, still prevalent Western World and no, not in the US) in the concepts of Marx and Engels are not the ones with bloods on their hands but despots, dictators, and power-hungry people. For you bringing up Cuba or the USSR, how about Pinochet-led Chile, Somoza-led Nicaragua (personal anecdote, my father was in West Point at the same time the son in-waiting Somoza was pre-Sandinistas and at one point tutored him because his English was not up to standard), military junta-led Greece, or apartheid-led South Africa? Different ideologies afoot but their records are equally deplorable, yet very much supported by the West.
The US and UK wanted other nations to follow their influence they were so hung-up on ideology that all anti-communism forces were fair choices, human rights records not really considered. It is one thing to feel that Pinochet kept capitalism in-line in Chile but how about considering the man ordered the torture of Chilean citizens, of which included the future democratically-elected President of Chile? Thatcher was not just an ally of Pinochet but a close friend and guess where Pinochet was before he got extradited? The UK.
And using Reagan supporting South Africa's apartheid does not mean the US as a nation did. Many people who were young or many who were older and worked in the civil rights movement were most definitely not supporting apartheid. However, Reagan refused to be on the right side of history in his powerful position and thought more about $$$ signs than equality.

wow....saying communism wasnt so bad, it was just the men in charge reminds me of those who say if it wasnt for the holocaust, hitler wasnt bad... or mussolini ran the trains on time.
very easy to say from the ivory towers of america or from a classroom at columbia.
I'm sitting on the porcelain throne, not in an ivory tower.
"wow....saying communism wasnt so bad, it was just the men in charge reminds me of those who say if it wasnt for the holocaust, hitler wasnt bad... or mussolini ran the trains on time."
No. It's saying almost the exact opposite of what you're pretending he's saying.
Yes, Sue, that's what I am saying. That is exactly what I am saying.
well i thank you, i always knew some on here were super leftist liberal, this just proves it to me. you guys wouldve been very happy in pre Gorby USSR. the govt there gets you work, housing, pretty much anything you can want. sure its not the best but you dont have to work very hard or have any ambition.
i now understand the Thatcher hate.
Did the Iron Curtain get dropped on your head, Sue? Seriously. Your reading comprehension is so, so poor.
i understood perfectly, dont you backtrack now.
Backtrack on what? My argument that Reg and Strummergirl understood perfectly? My clearly ironic agreement to your completely fabricated assertion that I somehow thought the regime of Stalin wasn't that bad?
You, who claim to have been in this country since childhood and educated in private schools, have the reasoning, argument, and comprehension skills of a particularly stupid rock.
Whether you're a troll or sincere, you're worthless.
you said communism isnt so bad its the people who ran it, while the people who ran it made it worse, the whole theory of it is wrong in my opinion, it robs people of ambition and personal freedom.
i did not call you any names, i just disagreed with your argument in a civil way. wouldve been nice if you couldve as well.
Exactly, Kad. If we have to spend this much time trying to decide if someone is a liar or merely an idiot, we've already wasted too much time.
nice coming from someone who is supposedly so sensitive Reggie
