LOL, Dottie... I'm hysterical at the memory! I played the Doctor who got to examine Abe's head. I remember having a big song about it... And, I can still remember some of the words.
(my parents must have been very afraid for my future!)
I remember being an Alter Boy and my robe being too long and it was my first Sunday Noon Mass....the big Mass among the teenagers....well as the Priest sat on the pulpit I had to get up and stand in front of him with Bible in hand.....needless to say I stepped on my robe and went down....of course I gasped and my mouth opened as I landed face first in his crotch...of course I couldn't answer him when he asked if I was okay. That was probably my most embarressing moment.
I had the "It's a Small World" LP. It had all the nations featured from the ride.
Addy, was that your 11:00 number?
Independent thing that I am, I used to put on ONE MAN shows--my best number was impersonating Carol Channing in "Diamond's Are a Girl's Best Friend"...
And my parents STILL thought I was straight!
Plum, I was a total tomboy. But, when we were at our cousin's house it was usually a holiday, so I usually had to be in a dress. If I wore a dress, though, it was frequently pink!
Boobs now that is funny!
I had that record, also, Dottie.
ME - LOL!
Dottie...I still have that album...I actually may have 2 of them by chance.

Next random memory- climbing the walls. My best friend had a really narrow hallway in her house- narrow enough that we could climb up to the ceiling by bracing our legs on either side.
Boobs - I was just telling some friends this weekend that when I was in 7th Grade I marched up to my Minister and demanded to know why girls weren't allowed to be Acolytes. I had just been confirmed and I was very into demanding equal rights. He asked the Bishop - and they agreed that there was no reason, so I became the first girl Acolyte in the Episcopal church in Connecticut. It was the early 70's and I was VERY into women's lib!
(I also demanded that girls wear pants to school during the winter when I was in 5th grade. I organized a march on the Principal's office and everything!)
I had a Disney album. I think it might have been a premium from the gas station. (Wow remember those?)
Dottie - I'll sing it for you sometime!
Plum, wow! Great memory! I used to do that, too! We had a skinny attic hallway that we could do that in. Wow...haven't thought of that in years!
Boobs, your story reminds me of my Bar Mitzvah...
I always thought I had very bad handwriting, so I TYPED the Thank You Notes for all my gifts!!!
Needles to say, my parents were HIGHLY UNIMPRESSED and made me hand-write each and every one...
Quite frankly, I think that was the beginning of my Carpal Tunnel Syndrome!

I remember getting a notice from school about joining Brownies. My mom told me I could be a girl scout when the boys started selling cookies. She had a similar response when I got a notice about cheerleading. (I didn't even know what cheerleading was.) Hooray for first grade feminism. :)
Addy is the Norma Rae of her time...LOL !!! You go Addy !!!! That's why I love you so much..I've always been drawn to strong woman in my life.....like the one living with me.
Addy, what are Acolytes?
You're on (about the song).
LOL - well, I'm not sure how much I 'won' because my mom insisted that if I were to wear pants to school they had to be pant suits - so I ended up with a hideous collection of plaid pant suits - in a really bad 60's style! I hated wearing them...
Acolytes are Altar boys...

Heh. I'm thankful my parents pretty much let me go my own way, even if it means I'm hopelessly weird now. I'll never forget the look on my mom's face when she realized I was the only girl at a birthday party she came to pick me up from. (This was in elementary school, when all the boys had cooties.) Plum...my best friend who lived across the street when I was little was a guy named Steve. Ever year, for a birthday present, we insisted on giving each other a new pillow case in a new theme. We had one year that was a circus theme, one year that was about puppies... our mothers could NEVER understand why in the world we wanted to give eachother a single pillow case! We started when we were in Kindergarten!

My friend and I used to exchange...computer games.
Oh, yes I'm geeky.
Anyway, we were trying to build a collection of all the Maxis Sim games. This is before The Sims, and I'm not just talking about the SimCity titles. We got even the most obscure ones- SimMars, SimHealth, SimAnt...
ME - your story about typing your thank you notes reminds me of a time when I thought I would be very clever and use carbon paper to complete an assignment that involved writing something 500 times (old fashioned assignment!). Anyway, I ended up writing the sentence out 250 times, only to realize that I had the carbon paper upside down, so I copied it onto the back of my original paper. I had to do the whole stupid thing over again...
Addy,
I guess we BOTH learned a lesson about trying to take shortcuts!
This is such a relaxing and amusing Thread--If I do say so myself!
I'm really enjoying posting in it and reading it...
Oh, Plum...there were no computer games when I was a child!

Well, there were probably old-fashioned console games, but I'm not surprised you didn't have them. Nowadays I can be a bit old geezerish and talk about the days of DOS and games installed through multiple floppy disks. :)
I remember having a version of Reader Rabbit so ancient it was all magenta and cyan on a black background. It helped me learn English. :) I had a cool game called ThinkQuick! then, too. You were a little person running around a castle trying to get parts of a knight, I think, while avoiding being eaten by caterpillars.
