FYI- the actor that played Alice's main squeeze on the Brady Bunch passed away.

He was a great character actor and played on a lot of sitcoms. Recently, TVLand showed the episode where he played a gangster on Andy Griffith.
I read about this earlier today. He was one of those wonderful character actors whose name you probably didn't know but as soon as you saw him, "Oh, that guy. I've seen him in a lot."

He was also on "All In The Family."
I remember him from a lot of commercials too.
A great face and voice. Such a part of my childhood! Back when we had character actors on TV.
He will be missed.

He was also the voice of Magilla Gorilla!
He was also on The Old Sgt Bilko series in addition to the original Honeymooners
He will be missed
He will be missed. He added to so many TV shows - the worst one being the 70's drek show The Brady Bunch. How sad that the headline to such an amazing character actor labels him in his most thankless role.
Aww man. My condolences. I used to watch the Bradys all of the time.

Oh...how did I miss this? Great character/voice actor and I don't think his role in THE BRADY BUNCH was thankless at all. It brought him a generation of new fans.
I agree. I know that he has many credits, but if my brother and I didn't watch "The Brady Bunch" we would have never known who he was. We were both born in the seventies- it was a new generation of fans for him....
The Brady Bunch has made everyone associated with it TV legends.
How on earth is that thankless?
Without his ongoing appearances as Sam the Butcher, nobody today would know who he is.
More like thankFUL.

I always thought he would make a great Herbie in Gypsy.

"A great face and voice. Such a part of my childhood! Back when we had character actors on TV."
Sigh! Back when we had character actors in anything. Unfortunately Hollywood, tv and Broadway no longer employ the likes of Marjorie Main, Margaret Hamilton, Thelma Ritter, Don Knotts, Charles Lane, Frank Nelson and the list goes on and on.
ETA: A shout out for "Everybody Loves Raymond" that kept Doris Roberts and Peter Boyle working.
He would have! I wonder if he ever played it.
