I just heard that on the radio, Huss. The mind boggles--just beyond tasteless.

The shooter's mother, and first victim, collected guns and was apparently stocking up in the event of an economic collapse of the United States. This is getting nutty.

And the aunt who told the local news this is equally enthusiastic about guns and confirming the 'survivalism' angle very nonchalantly.

But it annoys me that she fell on the most common line by people who defend lax gun laws: It's the person, not the weapon. Okay, then are you suggesting more funding for mental health facilities and having more mental health professionals around schools to catch potential warning signs at an early age? They really never further that point. It sounds like the kid was not really raised in a home that would have him seek mental assistance if he was really 'a ticking time-bomb'.

Well Senator Gillibrand is a gun owner and tweeted that she supports the Assault Weapons ban that Sen. Feinstein has brought up on the Sunday Morning News Shows.

There are gun owners who do think there are certain guns that have no reason to be on the market. I know a few who have not gone to gun shows because there are not only things showcased that they would never buy, but there is this survivalist ideology that has taken over the gun shows that frankly freaked them out.

That came from a so called "teacher." Obviously not a very good one.

That is exactly why I didn't respect any of my high school teachers. Because they spouted crap like that. I don't care what your political views are, liberal or conservative, don't bring them into the classroom if you're a respectable teacher.

The one thing I agree with Abby on. As a teacher, you DO NOT spout your political views in the classroom. I don't care how adamant you are.

If you're referring to your first statement being believable - no. if there are teachers receiving pay cuts (I know it isn't a universal situation), it is definitely not because some teachers spouted their political views. My parrot knows that.

If it's your second statement, you want us to believe that 99% (almost every single one) of your teachers go on and on about their political views in the class. Unless things have changed drastically since my 25 year tenure in the classroom, that's just not believable.

I'm sorry that you can't believe that almost every single one of my high school teachers shared their political views on a regular basis then that's your problem, I'm telling the truth, maybe that's not the case where you are but where I am it is.
