Any word on whether the WBC was kept away? I remember after the Arizona shootings a radio host offered them an hour on their show if they didn't go to the funerals and then he urged people not to listen.

You're missing a great deal. Please show where in the US Constitution there is any mention of a "Separation of church and state".

Full text of a statement released from the National Rifle Association on Tuesday:

"The National Rifle Association of America is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown.

Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting.

The N.R.A. is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.

The N.R.A. is planning to hold a major news conference in the Washington, D.C., area on Friday, December 21.

Details will be released to the media at the appropriate time.

Ya gotta' love the snark in that "Out of common decency" language. Translation--anyone who has made any sort of statement on this topic PRIOR to this has shown a LACK of common decency.

The NRA--arbiters of decency. Words fail me...

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
