This video was taken this morning at high tide. It is the sea wall in Narragansett, RI. Under normal conditions there is a beautiful sandy beach about 20 feet below that wall. It's completely covered with 20 feet of water and the storm wasn't even near us at that point. The high tide at 8:30pm is supposed to make this look like nothing, they tell us. Fortunately, I'm up on a hill. So flooding shouldn't be a problem. But this sure is scarey!

Some idiots decided it was a good idea to leave that crane up on top of that tall new condo building on 57th and now the thing is hanging over the side of the building and is going to fall eventually.

A friend of my wife just called from Staten Island and she just lost power

I would not get within 5 blocks of any crane in this weather.

Power is still up, so far. Tree is down on 1 end of my street. I know of a couple of idiots going for a hike in this weather. And some people got to the pound to car for the animals there earlier in the day, so I know they got taken care of today.

Christie is absolutely right.

And Bloomberg just also spoke out about how tragic it would be for emergency workers to be hurt trying to save someone who defied orders.

The cranes in DC have all gone "commando".

I'm just over the border in Silver Spring, MD. The lights have flickered a few times in the past half hour and the winds are no joke. All levels of government are shut down tomorrow as well and forget about taking a bus, train or plane.

Friends drove in from the Jersey shore last night and are staying in my spare bedroom in Murray Hill (along with their dog and two cats). Power is still on. We've got a pot of homemade chili on the stove and are drinking dirty martinis. Earlier we went downstairs and stood outside for a few minutes -- wind was very strong as was the rain. Doorman advised us to come back inside in case the power goes out. I'm on the 11th floor and would not want to walk up all those stairs. Also, got another text this afternoon from my office manager, no work tomorrow either.

Here on 42nd & 8th, it's drizzling a bit and is a little windy. It's so strange that so much is happening jus a few blocks down when outside my window I see people without umbrellas just casually walking.

Knowing that there is so much destruction. I just pray that the loss of life is minimal. The news reports are frightening. Fires and floods.

And, I can't reach my mom due to power outages. (I know she's ok, but I really, really, really, really want to talk to her!)

This is going to be the longest night.

They are reporting deaths in the area. Including a man in Queens who was crushed when a tree fell on his home.

There is NO reason for anyone to be out!
