Up here by Rochester we're already getting high winds and rain (enough to down some branches) so tomorrow is going to be pretty bad for us. Nothing compared to NYC though.

We lost power for about three hours -- it just came back a few minutes ago and our lights seem so BRIGHT after going by candle light all that time!

I love Lydia. I DVR whenever she's on and spend hours with it. As some of you know, I'm studying to be a sign language interpreter so she's good study for me.

Apparently NYU hospital lost power and the backup generators on some floors failed and they're having to evacuate people. Nightmare of nightmare scenarios.

I'm in a lucky area, but this is still not pleasant. I spent my day wisely however, tucked up on the couch in my pajamas enjoying the company of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, Sophia, Ben and Jerry.

It's the absolute nightmare of nightmare scenarios.
Last year my father was in the ICU during Hurricane Irene. My greatest fear was that somehow the back-up systems would fail.
He passed away the day after the storm, but the hospital systems got him through the night.
It's an absolute nightmare.

They're saying that they are evacuating the patients in the ICU and the NICU manually down 9 flights of stairs!
Daunting. I can't imagine.

LIVe Report on ABC Ch 7 on NYU Langone Medical Ctr. transferring patients due to back up generator disaster. You mean, with all that $$$$$$ marketing this hospital, THIS HAPPENS? Great Hospital, but really.... A newborn baby was just loaded in an ambulannce

I'm going to bed.
I'm quite sure I won't sleep a wink, but I have to turn all of this news off and just send prayers and good thoughts out into the universe.
What a draining, sad and scary night.
I shall hold onto hope that most people survived without trouble because of the early warnings and the awareness of the need to take precautions.
