Posted: 10/8/13 at 8:38pmI know, right? I guess since most people here seem to have a endless supply of money to see Wicked and Matilda every time there is a light bulb changed they wouldn't be the ones without healthcare.

Posted: 10/16/13 at 1:47pmSo now that the Republican and Tea Party Bozos have been put in their place.. I will attempt once again to have this discussion. Anyone else just apply for their healthcare? How was the process for you?

Posted: 10/16/13 at 9:08pmI had no problem at all. My sister is having trouble and is gonna try again towards the end of the month or early November. I was curious if dental was covered by Obamacare. I don't think it is but I could be wrong about that.

So many loud voices on both sides...
I am as offended--well, almost--by those who refuse to acknowledge the flaws of the ACA as I am by the Treasonous GOP--willing to do lasting and permanent harm to the economy and people of this nation purely out of the rabid desire to deprive President Obama of the legislative victory of the ACA.
I'm a supporter of both Obama and the idea of the ACA, but I am mystified as to how anyone--especially someone who has actually spent time in the Kafka-esque, fun-house labyrinth that is Healthcare.gov--can say that criticism of the application process or the architecture of the site is nothing more than "right wing political bias", as so many of the apologists are doing in response to reports of Healthcare.gov's epic fail.
The site is a nightmare, the logic (or lack thereof) that underpins the design of the process is bewildering and deeply flawed, and I cannot imagine how the people who need the ACA most--the elderly, the poor, people not privy to the best education money can buy--are supposed to navigate their way through the initial "application" process, let alone the clumsy and frustratingly opaque "plan selection" section.
In the real world of the open marketplace, the company responsible for a website this poorly conceived, designed and executed would be an industry laughingstock and would disappear without a trace--except, perhaps for a long life in the textbooks and lectures of B-School professors illustrating "how NOT to launch a product or service on the Internet".

Well since the actual care does not start till January, and everything else you are talking about is matters of the website getting going.. then I would respectfully say Addison that everything else you are going on about is blah, blah, blah.

Native Americans weren't required to purchase health coverage or be penalized for not doing so.
...or something to that effect.

Dame--The OP asked for experiences and opinions about the process of applying for coverage through the ACA and so--rather than engaging in futile arguments with/about Trolls--I replied with my opinion about my experience.
How/Why is that "blah blah blah"???

Because what you are going on about is the site. That has been discussed. Too many people want in and the site had been lousy. The OP went beyond that. Already applied and chose their insurance. There are many options as to what insurance to pick and they ask questions that lead to what you will be paying. You are just talking about the failures of the website. I think the OP is talking about the actual process of getting the insurance once you are done with the site. That is all I meant. The site should have been better prepared. But it is in its infancy. The website and actual health coverage are two different things.

Posted: 10/17/13 at 2:03pmAddison, Dame... Are you familiar with the term "splitting"? There was a terrible old troll who used to post here all the time. She used to try to split regulars who knew and liked each other all the time. She liked to try to rile up friends of mine against me. It never worked. I can't remember her nom, it was a long time ago.

It's OK, Namo. Sometimes Grown-ups disagree or even argue.
I am perfectly happy to be called out if I get my facts wrong or even to have my opinions questioned. DAME had an authentic reaction to one of my posts and we traded messages which clarified our opinions. Speaking for myself, I don't feel split or divided from DAME, whom I regard as a poster of intelligence, insight and wit. Although possibly a bit of a pot-head.
The important thing is that DAME and I still love you very, very much, and we'll always be a family.

Posted: 10/17/13 at 2:13pmYes love. All is good. However we can discuss what is or isn't a pothead if you would like. But lets not thread jack and leave it for another day.
