So am I and I am glad they are leaving a lot of the "just for tv" auditons out. there are a smattering of them, but not as much. There is nothing worse than when a show likes to look like you just walk in and get a number and audition by this season. it pi**es me off because i know damn well it is hours and hours and some fabulous dancers don't get through because they need to make room for "freaks" and cannot have too many amazing ones. i mean, can you imagine how many amazing dancers there are in New York.
also...the pop ' lock guy. (don't like the style) but one guy last year that did that, they put right through. sometimes, they go to choreo.
anyhoo... i am pissed they didn't put the big girl through. she had brilliant technique. it is a top 10 this year. so may not even need pairing.

I was goofing around with i-tunes during the bigger girl so I sort of saw her but didn't see whether they put her through. They should have at least put her through to choreography.

just didn't make it after that and also nigel had given her a speech about her not getting any jobs and mia said that is why she is coreographer/creator and did not get any jobs.

Piper and Stock- ya'll know I love this show. I watch it every year with my daughter! Piper- unfortunately it didn't look like the "big" girl was doing well in the choreography round. I'm with you though- there are a lot of great dancers who don't get through. I'm looking forward to this season and wondering how they're gonna match the dancers up with previous season favorites. (although I also kinda hate that the past season people are taking spots away)

Well, I guess as long as they didn't make the final part of the show they are allowed to try out again. Just like on Idol.

I don't think the past season favorites are auditioning. I think they will be selected as partners for the top 10 sort of like the professionals on DWTS.
While I think the big girl was a great dancer...the reality is that this show is all about partnering and no one could partner her. They couldn't put her through.

I'm already tired of the crying judges and it was only the first episode...I would rather hear Mary scream. (and I HATED when Mary screamed)
I remember Teddy from last year but I don't remember what happened to him in Vegas. Did he get hurt?

I think that Teddy guy is pretty good but, I thought his dance was a bit to frantic.... Maybe with the right choreography he will be great!

L'il C - ugh! get him off the show.
injured dancers have to stop pushing themselves. i know this is a huge opportunity but if they are injured now and keep pushing that injury they may find themselves in big trouble later.
i love to see the dancers who come out who have danced for 3 years (like Sabra) or a small amount of time compared to the 15 year trained ones and kick a&&

I simply love this show. It's my absolute favorite show of all time.
Back to the All-star dancers: they are not competing, they are simply partnering. (I guess they are borrowing from DWTS)

I was reading and watching at the same time so I wasn't really paying attention last night. I enjoy the auditions, but I think they go on for too many weeks. Let's just get on to the top 20 already!

they gave this one kid royal sh*t for doing a tap number for his solo after he danced contemporary for his life.
then...next week, it is only a top 10 chosen and the judges go to the homes of contestants to tell them their fate.
honestly, i didn't watch last time a. BORING b. the same on panel judges does not work in this show as it does for IDOL. c. now Mia is back so I may watch. I always hated the fakeness about the audition process. that is NOT how it works. trust me. :)

Why did the contemporary dancer who had to dance for his life get another chance? He still sucked at partnering at ballroom.

I'm actually not too thrilled about SYTYCD's new format this season by having the Top 10 pairing up with the All Stars. I never really liked DWTS because they pair pro dancers with has been celebs. I personally like seeing undiscovered and raw dancers in a dancing show which is why I absolutely love SYTYCD! Don't get me wrong, I do love a lot of the past dancers, but it's more exciting to see a new "cast" each season. Now that the All Stars are there, that means that's 10 less dancers we don't get to see. True, it's more competitive now, but I feel watching a variety of 20 dancers just makes the show interesting and well rounded. I think the All Stars should only come back as guests. They already had their chance and I just wished more dancers can have theirs. That's just my opinion I guess..

I'm SO glad Mia's back, but I wish she were choreographing. She'd my ABSOLUTE favorite. Her "Addiction" dance with Kayla and Kupono last year still gives me chills. She's amazing. And, I hate to say it, but I miss Mary....

wicked1492, I totally agree! Love Mia and I absolutely loved loved Addiction. I actually almost cried with that one! However, Sonya has been growing on me especially since last season. Her choreo is getting more interesting!

I love the idea of getting to see some past favorites come back, but I don't care for the idea of suddenly only having 10 contestants. I feel sort of sorry for those who had their last shot at competing unknowingly had their odds cut in half. And I really don't get the purpose of this exercise.
