I am guessing it is because people didn't agree with the harsh criticism. i like the kid... a lot.
but...Christina didn't deserve to be there either, so out of all of them, I guess I can see him as the replacement. I still say if Billy or Kent got the same routine Alex did, they too would have had the same praise. it was the piece itself that lended to its beauty. and i also don't think it was the best all time ever. close though.

Lauren was the best tonight. I am not sure why Dom stayed with her for comments. maybe because she was emotional. it was a brilliant routine and the choreography of that lyrical hip hop was fab!

I thought Lauren was great!
All the dancers stayed with their partner during the comments tonight. Then they left when Cat gave out the phone numbers.

^agree. and I think Mia is trying to make that quite clear too. I still think he has beautiful lines and centre though.
Stock- absolutley! I felt every move of that. I agree with Mia a bit, but Lauren had it for the night! If she just would have gone that bit further in the abuse part it would have been even better. i liked that more than Hallelujah. marrying Hip Hop and Lyrical like that was fabulous.

I also liked the Fosse that Tyce did with Alex. I thought it was better than the critique, but agree with the costuming.

I love Kent. I think he's completely adorable and gorgeous dancer. He and Billy are my two favorite dancers this year.
I felt bad for Billy last night. The judges were way too hard on him about his krumping. I thought he looked pretty damn good and was hanging with Comfort.
They will never give a contemporary dancer their due when they do street dancing, but they sure as hell will heap mountains of praise on a street dancer who adequately performs anything other than their style.
Jose got way too much praise for that Bollywood number. I feel like they have been positioning him for the win from the beginning. He's had more screen time than any other contestant. We didn't even know that Ashley existed until they named the top 10.

Jose got praise for his performance level, which was great and appropriate, but they all admitted his technique was bad, which it was. Jose and Kent both have personalities and charisma that light up the stage, which is something they look for every season and they are always pushing the more technically adept dancers to do the same. I like both Kent and Jose, but it's obvious they have a long way to go to display the versatility of the other dancers and the judges will latch onto that. It's still very early.

I felt TERRIBLE for Travis...but, sadly, they were right. He did NOT choreograph a jazz routine. (But I liked it just fine.) Later in the show, when it was commented that another choreographer did, indeed, put together a jazz routine, there was a shot of Travis and it looked like he was saying something nasty.
I also think that the judges have some "hang ups" when saying some dancers would have been "eaten alive" by their female partners. I think THEIR barriers were keeping them from seeing some of the sexuality that was possessed.
So, who do you guess will be up for elimantion tonight??

I was gonna ask if anyone else saw that! I had to rewind it a couple times. I was trying to read his lips. I'm dying to know what he said..but you could tell it was something bitter.

Last night was kind of lackluster for me. So far my favorites are Alex and Adechike. I thought Jose's routine was lots of fun and he looked like he was having a good time. I also thought the judges were rather harsh on Billy last night. His unison with his partner was impeccable.
Question - are the dancers responsible for choosing their costumes? I ask because the judges made several comments about the costumes last night.
I kind of hope tapper girl gets the heave-ho tonight. I don't particularly care for her.

I like Melinda and she's definitely the most versatile tapper they've had thus far, but she does seem to be lacking in performance and charisma when dancing any style other than tap. She'll demonstrate great technique, but it comes off like a rehearsal when there's nothing attached to the choreography. And her dress last night was hideous. She looked like a seasick Chiquita Banana on a boat ride from Havana.

Agreed. The unison work was the first thing I noticed. It was flawless. Did anyone think his krump could possibly improve on that? He's Billy. Doing krump. I honestly thought he did the best he could.
I did think Kent's cha-cha was far superior to the number last night. I didn't pick up any chemistry in there. Gee, wonder why... He's adorable now, but I see the potential for him to become insufferable once the light goes on in his closet.

I think Kent's cute and sweet, but probably because I knew guys just like him. Didn't he say he was in a graduating class of 16 or something like that? I've known one of those "golly gee" types for 35 years now and he is still like that (he was just in Chicago last week). It's not a schtick. It's always been who he is and it's sort of fun and refreshing. Kent reminds me of that guy and sometimes it's totally genuine.

Mister Matt, I get what you're saying, and I think Kent is a wonderful dancer, but unfortunately I still find him annoying. I could also be bitter that my favorite (Anthony Burrell) was not selected as one of the top 11.

I can see how Kent might be annoying to some. I was just noticing some other comments and I don't think it's a schtick or disingenuous.
I just think the new format is annoying in general. I liked it better when they all had to struggle with their partnerships together. It added a whole layer of difficulty that they are not having to face this time around.

^ I hated it last year because Adam and Mary were annoying. Mia brings a different mix to the idol like panel. I enjoyed different choreographers but ones like Tony Basil and L'il C droned on too much. there are ones i miss. Mia encompasses so much in her critiques and I adore that more than hot tamales and screaming.
Adam (as much i love his genuine love for all things dance and generally do like him most times ) is making me shake my head again. he takes credit for Lauren last night when his notes last week when have of them were assuming she wasn't taking anything in.
As far as costumes being mentioned it was more Mia taking in the whole package and she was right on all counts. It is "summer time" not winter at PADDLES in NY. I also hated the dress on Melinda. I know Kent's was brought up but that was from Nigel for a different reason.

Nigel, the audience is not connecting to Christina either. But you know the vote counts.
There is so much criteria they choose from than just their dance on the night for who they pick to stay and go.
I think some people are going to be pretty peeved at this one. I am halfy halfy on it. but she did have the better number last night.

I don't see how Adechike keeps avoiding the bottom three. His dancing does nothing for me and he brings no emotion to it either.
