Seems like the boys are more popular with the audience but I think that's the demo- Anyway, the girl who left tonight deserved to go- her solos are very weak!

Ballroom solos are always weak. It's just the nature of the style.

Really disappointed Melinda stayed over Christina. Ah well.

Totally agree about Billy. I thought he was great. But, any time a dancer who isn't hispanic or black does a krump routine, the judges say the same thing. And you can so obviously tell that at the tip of their tongues they want to say ".. you're just too white for this style."

I thought the tapper girl should have gone. She's way gorgeous but that's about it. the chick with the braces was not pretty, but a better dancer. Robert......HELLO. he is so beautiful.

as Nigel put it..."it's a warrior's dance" yeah Nigel, we know what you are saying.

I don't even like Melinda's tapping. Her style is very one dimensional and stiff. They gave Adichike such crap when he tapped a solo (I missed it) in Vegas. There was a tap guy in the Canadian one who was amazing and made top three...she just doesn't do it for me. I was surprised she made top 10. Don't get me wrong, she is talented, just not my style.

Well, I had to catch up on the dancing last night, then watched the vote off. I agree with most of y'all...I think Billy was terrific. I'll be interested in how they judge the others in Krump. I cannot imagine any other dancer doing any better than he did. Of course, Billy is my favorite right now, so I'm a bit biased perhaps. I thought his dancing last week was phenom.

I'm not loving Mia as a judge. I think her criticisms are often muddled and confusing. I think Adam is annoying, but not as much as last year. I'm grateful that his critiques are half as long and a bit less rambling. I still hate Nigel.

I wanted the tapper to go just for those heat seeking stretch pants she tapped with in her solo. I do think the ballroom girl's solo was very uninspired, so not surprised they chose her to go.

Kent's small town boy act needs to go. I think he is a great dancer and want to see him go far because of that, not because of the act he is putting on. I do think Melinda's days are numbered, but I really do not hope she goes next week, because that would leave us with 6 guys and 2 girls. Lauren and Ashley are both phenomenal and my favorites of the season. My top 5 prediction after this week is Lauren, Ashley, Billy, Kent, and Alex.

See, I dont think Kent is as good as the other men. His technique is much less than the others as you can see in the group numbers, and I'm getting a bit sick of the "aw shucks" thing as well, but it is being perpetuated by the judges.

Also, Cat Deeley is the best host on television.

Cat is the bee's knees. She doesn't make it about herself, she doesn't argue with the judges, she provides moral support for the contestants, she moderates well, she's beautiful and charming, and she doesn't leer at the contestants in a way that makes you want to call Olivia Benson at SVU about a possible perp.

She said something Wednesda that was easily mistaken for something lewd last night about one of the pairs...something about her being on top...it was pretty funny.

I do hate that she lets the audience say "judges" at the beginning of the show...I loved the way she said Jedjizz!

I think tonight Alex and Ashley proved they are in a league above the rest. They were a bit harsh on Kent, but I think it is what needed to be said. The little boy act has got to go. I think Melinda's gone this week.

I still think Lauren is the best female and Alex was great but a little gimicky and it looked planned to be with twitch but yes he is fab and whoever said his face is Michelle Kwan's twin is so right. lol

as for Kent, he cannot help who he is. sure, he needs to learn, but i didn't see him not looking at his partner and just panning to the audience. he is the most marketable..i agree with Adam on that.

Honestly, I don't think it's an act for Kent at all. I truly think it's who he is.

I thought Alex and Twitch were pretty sensational. Set up to dance together? I doubt it....but totally set up to be the last number -- and well worth the wait. What a great number!

Here's my beef: WHY do they keep refering to ANY of these numbers as "B'way"? They aren't. Just because they use a b'way SONG doesn't make it a b'way style dance. (And I was disappointed in the choreography FOR Neil, who is probably one of my all time favorite SYTYCD people -- along with Travis.)

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Re: Kent. It's definitely not an act. He's an 18 year old kid from a small town clearly excited to be doing what he's doing. And excited about all of it.

I've never seen this show before, but I was channel surfing and caught a few moments tonight, and here was this cute young guy Kent, being told he really needed to "walk more like a man, be more of a man, act more like a man" etc. It's amazing to me that the producers can present a show about DANCING, for goodness sake, and yet somehow it manages to be somewhat homophobic. Does this happen often on this show? I mean, they must deal with male contestants all the time who aren't "manly", as they put it.

^ i don't think the "be a man" thing has anything to do with being homophobic or them talking about him being gay, as there are plenty of strong, masculine gay dancers they have promoted. it is the "little boy" in him. i agree with those who say it isn't an aw shucks act. he is who he is. i think Mia is wrong when she said he just likes the fame of being on tv, etc etc. i think he is a great dancer and i don't think you can take the country out of him.

yes, the tap girl Melinda. I don't even like her hoofing so much. just goes to show those DWTS people who think if you are a dancer you have an advantage, because her ballroom is just awful.

i guess gimicky is the wrong word for twitch/alex. and yes, it was amazing, show stopping, etc etc....i just think it was a little put together with the teaming, placement in the show.

Sheldon - The comments to Kent were not about sexuality (it's been alluded that he is heterosexual), but maturity. It's been an issue for a while. But they have called out other guys for been too effeminate. It wasn't about homophobia, but about the ability to portray a character, especially when partnered with a woman. I think the ONLY time the show got in trouble with a homophobic remark was Nigel's comments to a really awful male/male ballroom couple. It was the first same-sex ballroom couple that ever auditioned for the show and it sort of threw the judges off, not knowing how to critique them. Honestly, the same-sex part didn't matter as they just weren't very good.

Kent isn't an act. He is a small-town farm boy having the time of his life doing what he loves on national television. I agree that he gets too caught up in the audience and slips out of the moment to mug for the audience. He needs to put the dance first. The audience will react favorably to everything, just as they are trained to do, regardless.

Ashley's performance was simply gorgeous. I was spellbound. And the Alex/Twitch routine was one of my favorite hip-hop routines I've seen on this show. And it was performed brilliantly. I'm just not feeling Billy at all. I think he's incredibly talented, but I find his performances bland. Jose and Billy are polar opposites.

absolutely. i said above too about Kent. but...it is getting a bit repetative. he is who he is and if he changed it, then he would be "acting"
this season i seem to have a different fave every week. last week it was Lauren.

I agree with you about Billy, Matt. Funny because he was my favourite last year and this. He is another one who had not studied for 15 years and just "has it" i find him brilliant. I still hate the way they went after him about that silly Krump he did last week. totally not his fault and he still did it well imo.

When Adam said to Melinda "when I watched it back i thought we made a mistake too" so wait...you didn't watch the performances back the night before you made your decision - he didn't make sense there. they did make a mistake. but....they both would be gone, regardless or order.

I have never cared for Melinda to begin with, but having both Mia and Adam tell her that not getting rid of her the week before, was just plain rude. She's out of her league and never should have been a part of the top 11 to begin with (IMO).

Their biggest mistake was not having Anthony Burrell in the top 11. That misstep is a huge question in my mind, especially since Mia told Robert last night that he needed to get himself to ballet class. So Mia, why was Robert even selected, but Anthony let go?? OK, rant over (Dottie's in a pissy mood today).

i agree and as much as i am not a fan of Melinda i felt sorry for her, when Mia started that off about making the wrong decision you could just see her deflate.

is Anthony they boy for Harlem? I agree 100% - he was amazing and injured. can you imagine what he could do?

Yes, Anthony is the guy from Harlem. He's actually out in LA now. Apparently he used to dance with Alvin Ailey.
