Nothing leads to polygamy.
That's the same things as saying "Doesn't letting people with good credit own a car lead to everyone (regardless of age or credit history) being able to own a car."
The point is -- we have laws associated with marriage. Those laws are meant to protect everyone's right to persue their happiness. And, GW's crazy ideas on gay marriage abolition simply don't so that. Recall just for a moment desegregation, and you will eventually be bored by how alike this moment is to that one.
I, of course, am most offended by the fact that tzoo began a paragraph with Anyways. This is not a word, but it is almost a minipad.
yeah, i'm leaning towards agreeing with pj. not necesarily sure it's the chinless wonder, but it's not real.

All an act? Excuse me!? I'm just as real as any of you are. Please don't make fun of me, I beg of you. I'm just trying to get the facts straight and you guys are making it frustrating for me. I mean, I don't hate gay people. Quite the opposite. One of my idols is gay. It's just so hard to know which side is right. Both sides seem to be corrupt, both the Republicans and the Democrats, and I just don't know who to believe anymore. They say that young people should get involved but. . . .how can I get the right information if people keep making fun of me? It's something that I don't understand. Instead of explaining the situation properly to me and winning me to their side, they ridicule me for the undeveloped opinions that I currently have. It puzzles me. And I'm not trying to offend anyone. I'm just trying to get the facts straight.

You sound pretty young. One might suggest that you go to the library and read. Lots. Newspapers, both liberal and conservative op-ed pages. Brush up on your history. Read some nonfiction from both sides of the aisle.
A conservative (or conservative opinions) on these boards will get skewered every time.
I learned this the hard way, and now you have. Think before you speak..or...type. No one's trying to hurt your feelings. But I think that one day when you understand the situation more you'll realize that what you're saying now is well...we'll see.
Bush in any form......cannot be good.
Bush only has his own interests (and that of his cronies) in mind!
So, I'm a straight woman that personally doesn't want children. Am I not allowed to marry either? Not necessary? That's ridiculous. If I love someone, I want the choice to marry them, whether of not we are going to have children!

xxnewgirl, I was thinking that too (except I'm not a straight woman -- or a straight man, for that matter.) There's a defference between being a childLESS couple and childFREE couple. The former wants them, but is having a hard time conceiving; the latter is pretty content without them. Does this mean that the childfree couple should be denied marriage? According to tz0o, they should be because marriage is "only for procreation." I'm afraid tz0o's definition of marriage is a bit archaic.
it was right around the time kim deal said, "motherhood means mental freeze, freeheads."

"Heck, one of my favorite Broadway stars is gay."
You know, one of my best friends is ________.
How juvenile.

Undiscovered, I've been told that couples who don't want children prefer to be called "childfree." "Childless" implies that they're bereft somehow because they don't have children.
Wayne Madsen is NOT the most reliable of liberal websites.
EDITED TO ADD "NOT": Ooops, Dr. Freud, I believe your SCHLIP is SCHOWING!

The Wayne Madsen link is for a picture not for the dominatrix story.
"gay people don't.......have sex (at least not that I've heard of). "
Umm, excuse me.
*poops self laughing*
There. That's what I think of your statement. Gay's don't have sex?? Come on!! Wake up and smell the coffee, honey!!!
"However, my feelings drive me against gay marriage, simply because I find it highly unnecessary."
The only reason you find it unnecessary is because you are not gay. If you are denied access to your spouse when they are in the hospital, or have your house taken away from you if your spouse died because your relationship, no matter how many years you have been together, means nothing simply because Conservatives fear it. If you think Equal Rights is unnecessary, then go back to supporting Bush where you belong. And no, they cannot just sign a piece of paper entering into a legal union because the STATES ARE BANNING IT IN THEIR CONSTITUTIONS!!!
"Also, the only reason marriage exists in the first place is because people need to reproduce and have sex, and, as we all know, gay people don't reproduce or have sex (at least not that I've heard of)."
Gay people don't have sex?? How old are you?
"Please stop making fun of me now."
You just added fuel to the fire. Dug your own grave. Shot yourself in the foot.
If you wat people to stop making fun of you, then either never speak of Bush and gay marriage again or stop posting on the board. You're doing the damage to yourself.
"I only have one more question to ask, and please be kind. Wouldn't granting marriage rights to homosexuals eventually lead to polygamous marriages? "
How? Are gays and lesbians demanding to marry multiple partners? Polygomy is a separate and unrelated issue. Why do you think one would lead to another?
