re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

When I saw it on Wednesday, there was a group of about 12 girls 3 rows in front of myself and a couple of my friends. One girl, seemed to be the leader of this pack, came walking down the aisle, bossing everybody around making them move. My friends and I were like "Crap, she's a singer. She's going to sing the whole movie" Before the previews started and she finally shut up and took breaths between her words, Defying Gravity was playing on the CineRadio. This girl proceeded to stand up and sing every word. I was about to get up and be like "If you ruin this movie and RENT Day for me you will regret it." Ehem..luckily...a girl she was with said "if you sing at all during this I will kill you." Needless to say, she didn't make a noise the whole movie. Actually, the whole theater was silent, I didn't hear any wrappers or anything, everybody was just captivated. We had a good audience.

Don'y even start with me. These people at this movie were so rude and obnoxious. Read my review from my blog if you want the info in detail...I was pissed off.

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

my theater was very strict. A lot of rentheads there, everyone was wearing some sort of RENT related item. Let me put it this way: you would have gotten killed if you ruined the movie for anyone. At the end of EVERY preview the whole theatre was shusshing everyone to be quiet just incase the movie was starting.

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

No ews when I saw it. And only minimal clapping. Overall, a very respectful show.
Am I cut out to spend my time this way?

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

The worst thing that happened was in the very begining a section started to cheer right after the fade out of "Seasons..." and I loudly said, "It's a movie and they can't f*c*in hear you!" and after that the theatre was quiet.

The only other thing that happened was, well it's a long movie and when it was over, I needed a smoke. And as I was stretching I said to my girlfriend, "Sh!t I need a smoke" and some jerk across the aisle said in an exact copy of my voice "Sh!t I DON'T need a smoke!"

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

In my theater there was a guy sitting next to me that sat down and asked the person he came with, "Now what is this movie called again?" He then proceeded to hit on me throughout the entire movie and even tried to give me his number. Let's just say I got out of there as soon as the credits started to roll.
Honey, I don't produce theater. I am theater.

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

No mooing or applause when I saw it. There was a little boy, around age 2, who was running around the theatre. He tried to yank my glasses off and he stole my popcorn. Where the hell were his parents?!

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

The audience I saw it with was very respectful and didn't go "Eww" or make stupid comments. It was quite amusing because me, my friend, and some girl across the room kept whispering lines they took out.

My biggest disappointment was that my friend Jen (with her squegee) and I (with my cow tail) mooed once and an old man behind us yelled "SHUT UP." So... we mooed two more times and shut up so we wouldn't get on everyone's nerves..
I get lost, unless, of course, I'm getting found.

Not to be rude, but if you suggest we read your blog, shouldn't you have a link to the blog in the message? (Or is that breaking some BWW rule?)

Stupid people will come out. It's been getting worse for years. I remember a showing of "The Changling" where two people in front of me were fans of the director's work and commented on the framing and symbolism all through the film!

Mooing? I'm not a renthead (I'm in Providence, I don't even get out to the Providence Performing Arts Center or Trinity very much, not to say anything about Broadway.)

Maureen randomly moos in the song "Over the MOOn".

I've never understood it, and I don't think I ever will...

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

Holy crap. I have not a minute's worth of toleration for people like this. If I were you I would have first told them to shut up, then told them if they didn't you would get the manager, and then actally gotten the manager, if it had continued. Absolutely unbearable that would've been for me. Act on something before it has a chance to get to you and ruin your time.

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

I so really wanted to say something, but I didn't want to miss part of the movie to go get manager, silly looking back, because I want to see it again anyway. I really doubt they would have been kicked out, and if I had said what I wanted to really say to them, I would have really been kicked out along with them. Plus I didn 't want to ruin the movie for the other audience members either.
Like I said, I went in expecting people to sing, and moo,but what really suprised me was that I wasn't expecting people to make rude comments about others sexual orientation. I assumed that people knew at least what was going to happen. I guess there are people that went only because they knew Seasons of Love, and nothing else whatsoever about Rent.
I mean let's face it, no one went ewwww when Mimi and Roger kissed. That's sad. As I said before I wasn't mad at overly excited fans. I apperciate that, but not ignorance.

re: Stupid People at the Rent Movie

LOL i have to say, i was one of the moo-ers at the first showing i saw, but the people behind me were more obnoxious than i was. we were minding our own business, either quietly singing to ourselves or mooing or clapping or whatever, and the people behind us just talked the whole time, either asking stupid questions that they would've known had they stopped talking, or just random comments about nothing. the 2nd time i saw it on friday, i was further in the back and mooed really loud but some guys behind me laughed along with me so i guess it was ok lol. even though the wed. showing was kind of ruined for me, it didn't matter because i saw Idina live that day in "see what i wanna see" and we met tracie thoms outside the theater bc she was there to see idina, so i guess it all evens out in the end!
