Building on my summer dreams -- has anyone here ever flown Icelandair? It's seems like a pretty cheap way to get to Europe, with the only catch being a layover in Iceland (where I've always wanted to visit, anyway). Roundtrip to Paris is less than $500, in fact, and only a little more than 10 hours travel time. Is there a catch I'm missing?

Icelandair is pretty reputable, I think, Calvin! I've a co-worker who flew there on that and liked it!

The reviews I've seen have mostly complained about the food, but come on. That should go without saying considering:

a) It's on a plane.
b) It's based in Iceland

Buried rotting shark's fin is considered a delicacy in Iceland.

I think anything they serve while in flight will be gourmet compared to that, perhaps...
