What a naive statement. Bad Buddy is one of the highest streaming artists currently and is a Worldwide name. The Superbowl is the most watched event worldwide. The Superbowl isn't solely for Americans. Anyone with any sense of artistic knowledge will have understood the point of his halftime show."
The game is an US sport supported financially by mostly people from this country. The audience for the game is mostly from the US. Is it too much to ask for half time show to be sung in the language that is understood by the majority of people from this country. It would be different if this was the World Cup or Olympics which are games with different countries.
. As a sports fan I wish Super Bowl would just go back and be all about the game and not being an event with entertainment. NFL players will tell you they hate how long half time is at the Super Bowl in comparison to the regular season.

Per 2025 stats, Taylor Swift is the most streamed artist in the US. Bad Bunny ranks fifth.

It was Bad Bunny's. He's chosen to walk back/clarify his statement since he made it.

Between the Grammy's and the Superbowl Bad Bunny's streaming in the United States spiked 470% shooting him to number 1. He held the top 6 spots on Spotify. Every one of the songs sung in Spanish.
It doesn't matter anyway. The half time show was a massive success. The most watched halt time show in NFL history. I don't think fragile old white guys are the target demographic anyway.

Knowing every word was not essential to enjoying the performance.

No alternative is necessary. This is what was offered, and received very warmly by most. If you couldn't enjoy it, oh well, I’m sure you'll get over it. I imagine there are previous half time shows that didn't float your boat. You coped, and you will again. They can't please all of the people all of the time.

Great, and also true - except for your claim that he's #1.
Even with his deserved boost in stats, he is not #1. On Spotify's list of "Most-Streamed Artists" for February of 2026, he holds the #2 spot behind Taylor Swift. That, of course, may change in one direction or another.

Which is why the old white guys on this thread are throwing temper tantrums. Why wasn't it all about me and what I understand?!?!? Waaaaaaaah.
He's number one in the entire world and the ratings were huge. He won. We won. They don't matter and that drives them crazy. They all watched the Turning Point Nazi Rally anyways ;)

Many years ago, people whined about half time show being classic rock stars (McCartney, Springsteen, Tom Petty, The Who etc.) all the time. POC were not told to get over it and the show then became more diverse. Fast forward to today. There are genres of music people may not like for the half time show, music taste differs. It is another thing IMO if you can't understand what the artist is singing. Once again, I don't blame "Bad Bunny" because that is the language he communicates his art in. I blame the NFL for picking an artist no matter how popular they are who does not perform in the language of the country he is performing in.

Great point. How dare you (lmao) want to understand what the artist was saying.

In the year 2026 it is extremely simple to find out what he was saying. All the songs he performed are extremely popular and very easy to find translations for if you want to.
I don't know Spanish but I found it pretty easy to get the gist of his message through the theatrics of the performance.

There is no official language of America, moron. And I can block or unblock whenever I want just like I can post in whatever PUBLIC THREAD I wish. I hope you enjoyed watching the Nazi Rally while pretending to be busy the whole half time show making "drinks". It's weird if you didn't watch it you have so many opinions about it. Hmmm...Just the stupidity of MAGAts is always astounding and hilarious to me.

Typical MAGA, racist statement. I didn't understand Bad Buddy's lyrics but I understood his message. MAGAs are so close minded.

One of the joys of living less than 30 minutes from the border we share with our friends in Mexico is that we live less than 30 minutes from the border we share with our friends in Mexico.
And yes, MAGAts are always astounding and hilarious. But one of the joys of participating in BWW threads is that we can engage or not with these disgusting racist BWW MAGAts because it is OUR choice, not that of the BWW MAGAts.
Oh, and Bad Bunny's half time show was SPECTACULAR !!

Wow, there are lots of strange bedfellows going on in this thread.
I didn't watch the Super Bowl but I intend to watch Bad Bunny's performance in the next day or two.
For the record, I've attended operas I didn't understand and enjoyed them immensely. A few years ago (well, maybe ten) I saw the opera Rusalka in Houston at the last minute when a friend's ticket became available, and my only preparation came in the form of reading a synopsis on Wikipedia on the way to the opera house. A truly beautiful experience (with, admittedly, an easy-to-follow story).

Nice to see another hypocrite (HG) join my thread. This is the same guy who said he blocked me but here he is commenting. He also is another one who will call me all kinds of derogatory names but joins the thread. This is the same person who posted that "America's Sweetheart" (Sutton Ross) lied about him and basically urged people to ignore her. Then he had a "come to Jesus moment" and she became his BFF.
I will be the first to admit I did not watch the performance. Like I mentioned, I was making more snacks and drinks for anyone that wanted one. The people at my house that actually watched it wished they understood what he was saying. They did not bad mouth "Bib Bunny", they just thought they were not getting the total value of the performance. Once again, you can enjoy the visual aspect of the performance and get enjoyment from it but don't try and tell me you did not wish you understood what he was saying.
I think we have all said about everything you can say so I will stop after replying to "Kdogg" in his post.

Be honest. Would you have enjoyed the opera more if you understood it? That is my point with "Bad Bunny" half time show. Sure, you could enjoy it but understanding what he was saying probably would have enhanced your enjoyment. I am done.

The backlash against Bad Bunny isn't just about a halftime show; it’s a showcase of the current GOP’s priorities. By turning a cultural moment into a congressional inquiry, they’re reminding everyone why the movement is losing its grip on the mainstream. It’s becoming embarrassing to stand on that side of the fence again.
