re: THE AMAZING RACE 12 STARTS TONIGHT!

Does anyone else think that brother and sister are a little TOO close? Kind of creepy. It was like that episode of Friends when Rachel's boyfriend and his sister acted more like lovers.

re: THE AMAZING RACE 12 STARTS TONIGHT!

I forgot that I needed to tivo Cold Case as well to make sure I saw the whole episode, so I wound up missing about ten minutes in the middle. The first few episodes of any reality show's season are always a chore to wade through, I think, as you try to figure out who is who and what sort of character the editors are going to make them out to be. So far none of them are really sticking out as people I want to root for.

I think the donkeys won this leg!
HAHAHAHA! That's what you get for mistreating a being that is clearly smarter than you...HATED that Ari kid. I dislike the casting of the young bitchy gay guy who is out to PROVE that he is the bitchiest thing out there! Amazing Race has had it's fill of this stock character. Enough.

Jackass! What a wimp his best friend was! I love how she said it brought them closer together...that his bad behavior cost you a million dollars?!

They didnt advertise this well...we figured out it was on at the last minute...and because of football, it will be difficult to tivo all season. We added an hour to the season pass, just in case.

I am partial to the Goths at this point, though that surely will change as we get to know the other teams. The Goths seemed to have good spirits and good attitudes.

YEah, the advertising was weak - I think it was because Viva Laughlin was cancelled sooner than they anticipated so they had to rush to make TAR the replacement.

The advertising for next week was really weak. I actually said out lod "Is that it?!!!".

And yes, the brother and sister "overachievers" are a weeeee bit tooo close!

I agree with the scenes for the next episode... two things happen? Nobody gets in a big crash? No flight delays? This season could be as uneventful as the Family Edition.

re: THE AMAZING RACE 12 STARTS TONIGHT!

What a bizarre first episode. The Goth "couple" seem like fun, but I get the feeling they simply enjoy being characters. I was getting sick of hearing Goth this and Goth that and how Gothy they are in their Gothic Gothiness. Maybe I'm being a little too quick to judge, but am I the only one surprised that he's dating a girl? I'm sorta hoping they run out of makeup supplies because trying to see the actual people under all the makeup and hot pink everything is getting exhausting.

I'm so glad Ari and Staella were the first to go. Though they might have provided some drama, I only felt it would have been forced on their part rather than organically flourishing due to the challenges, which is far more interesting. Case in point would be the donkeys. That was so much fun. Anyone else think, "My donkey is broke!"? Anything that reminds me of making fun of Colon and Crusty is ok in my book. Are they still together?

Which leads me to Jennifer and Nathan. Boy, his nasty side reared its athletic little head pretty quickly and he could be vying with Jason to be the hateful bastard of the season. As soon as he said, "All the others girls..", you could practically hear the cracking of his nuts in the background. Luckily, Jennifer didn't go all Victoria and just whine continuously and give up.

But back to Jason...he's definitely this season's WTF-was-she-thinking jerky boyfriend. He likes to keep one foot out the door and she's begging for marriage. Should be entertaining. They will either be the eye-opening couple in which she realizes divorce would be inevitable, or the frustrating this-game-really-brought-us-closer-together oblivious lunacy.

The sisters will either be underdogs to root for or incredibly annoying. So far annoying has its feet closer to the ground on that particular teeter-totter.

Father/son and father/daughter are cute as always, but historically have no chance in hell, so enjoy them while you can.

I was distracted during half the show, so I didn't get the incestuous overtones of the brother/sister team, which lead me to believe they could be a wee bit more interesting than I thought. I often forgot they were even there.

The lesbians are adorable, but again, enjoy them while you can. Unless they are awesome at plane reservations and directions, I don't see them lasting long. But hey, I could be wrong. They could be the bowling moms of the future.

I really have no opinion yet of the hippie couple other than the fact that TK looks absolutely nasty. I can't get past the hair. I hope they have to shave their heads in the next leg. If not, I would prefer not seeing that on my screen every week. It's just gross. And seriously...a bandana? Do girls really find that hot or just not say anything because they think that it would somehow imasculate a man to ask him to throw the ridiculous thing away?

Lesson: Bandanas don't make you look bohemian or arty or rock-star or bikerish. They only make you look like you're trying to appear bohemian or arty or rock-star or bikerish. So unless you're currently featured in an art gallery, a multi-platinum selling musician or a 50+ year-old lifelong devotee to Harleys, then please don't wear one on your head. Save them for your back pocket on 70s night at your local Levi/leather gay fetish bar. And wearing one as a do-rag (and I'm talking to you garage band and drama major naive idealists in particular) should be punishable by jail time. That ship sailed about 15 years ago and it sunk.

Go donkeys!

Great recap, Matt! I don't know if I agree with all your points but I love the way you worded everything. Especially the teeter totter comment.

GO DONKEY! I think that should be our thread mantra we end all our posts with. LOL

matt, we always think alike...

Only one person pulled off the handkerchief hat...Aunt Jemima.

Wearing a handkerchief on your head means one of two things...you are a douchebag, or you dont wash properly...either way, no thanks.

Popular - The donkeys were my favorite team in that episode. I loved their I'm-not-doing-anything-until-you-start-acting-nice protest. I think we could all learn a little something from our donkeyian brethren.

I missed Sunday's episode, but Mister Matt, your recap more than made up for it.

And what a treat to have both you and Doodle commenting on the same thread. You two always make me laugh!

Amen! haha

By the way, I agree with most of what you said too... just waiting to see more before I state it so conclusively.

By the way...what the heck are Ari and Staella doing during the opening credits? Are they competitive Ukranian dancers? Does one dance better with a prickly pin cushion-like hairdo?

I don't get this Goth "couple" either...their tag is "Dating Goths" but when they had to catch the ferry, one of them said, "Two fairies on a ferry!" And my gaydar is spinning wildly at Dude Goth.

You're lucky, Tiff. My gaydar collapsed from exhaustion and could only be revived with a banana.

re: THE AMAZING RACE 12 STARTS TONIGHT!

Well the Goth guy even said something to the effect that he wasn't really manly. I bet somewhere along the line it is going to turn out that those two are not dating and he is gay! He has nice biceps though!

I am really over the Asian father. I like the daughter and that's the only reason I don't want them eliminated. But I bet she is just going to go off on him and I can't wait for that! Really had hoped the lesbian couple would have lasted longer. I like them. As of now, I have no real favorites.

re: THE AMAZING RACE 12 STARTS TONIGHT!

I still have hope for the dad/daughter. I think once they figure out how to work together, tonight's episode will be a good benchmark for us to see just how far their relationship grows.

Was a little disappointed in TK, but Rachel kicked butt.

I think the only team that I have had consistent good vibes about are the brother/sister team.

And I'm not even gonna bring up Gramps jumping the mud... nope, not gonna do it! LOL

I can't wait until more get eliminated and I can actually remember their names.

EDIT TO ADD: Go Donkeys! :)
