I am definitely watching! What an odd time to start the show though... Sunday at 8:30.

Nonetheless, it seems that we have a pretty diverse pool of teams. Hopefully it will be an exciting season (unlike the family edition...)

I found the first "surprise" to be rather predictable... but there are definitely many teams that I like already. This looks like it will be a great season... episode one and they are already in China!

Finally! I've always wanted to watch the series but missed the season premiere each time and lost interest since I didn't want to miss anything - and now I've finally caught a season opener and I'm totally hooked!

Tyler and James are smokin'! YUM!

What's surprised and shocked you guys so far?

As soon as I saw the Last Team card I knew that whoever got it was going home.

I thought for a moment that maybe because one team was already gone that they might have decided to have another "surprise" and have an early non-elimination round but it was interesting that two teams depart in the first episode of the season.

No real major surprises but it is interesting that there is not an old couple this season as we have seen in a number of the past seasons.

Was it Kellie & Jamie that asked the question about Muslims and Buddha? Not the brightest bulbs in the group.

I don't know how long I'm going to be able to take Dustin & Kandice.

I know that it's very early but Tyler & James seem to be way ahead of the others. It will be interesting to see if they can sustain that throughout.

Right now, Tom and Terry are the only team that really annoy me. I love how their introduction shot consisted of them getting manicures and then admiring their nails. Wait to represent, guys. Ugh!

The surprise was predictable as soon as they showed the "Last Team" card, but I thought it was really kind of shady. What is the purpose of tossing out a team halfway through a leg (other than to possibly shorten the season)? For that first team, it was such a depressing letdown, finding out they would not be allowed to even finish the first leg, when it has never happened before in the previous 9 seasons.

Right now, my favorite team is the Kentucky couple, David and Mary. I like to root for the underdogs. You can tell their view of the world has been extremely limited until now, but so far, they are dealing with the culture shock very well and quite enthusiastically. If they can get the nagging under control, they could work really well together.

Does anyone else find Peter's constant motivational barking at Sarah to be absolutely grating, if not somewhat patronizing? It's almost as if she can't accomplish anything unless she is pummeled with rapid-fire encouraging sound bytes. I'd rip off my metal leg and start beating him with it. Speaking of which, I hope they can fix it. I guess it's similar to a knee injury for anyone else except that ice and rest won't help. And why did everyone get so cranky about their being pre-boarded on a flight. Unless they are given preferential seating on the plane, when you board really makes no difference at all. Where you sit may make a slight difference, but not much.

There are many good teams this season. Erwin and Godwin are a hoot and could go far if they can make some good snap decisions. Tyler and James are the hot guy team that will probably make the final three. Rob and Kimberly are the couple that will probably end up working against each other and get pretty nasty. Duke and Lauren are doing well, but I don't think a parent/child team has ever made it to the final three (other than the stupid "family edition"). It's too early to tell if Team Manicure will do well, but I doubt it. They seem to be just sort of running along without really thinking ahead, but that could be the editing. The moms are cute. I would like to see them go far, but I don't know if they can keep up the pace. About six teams passed them while they tried to do the rope climb and that was just the first leg. The cheerleaders and Miss USAs could do very well. Other than the Buddha comment, which was kinda funny, they did pretty well.

The way the first guy acted on the rope climb -- sorry, don't know one from the other at this point -- was just pathetic. I'm about as fay as they come, and I wanted to slap him.

I was sorry to see the Muslim team go. And then followed by the Indian couple. I thought it was about time they brought some cultural diversity to the race, since they ARE going around the world. I am surprised it took them this long to think of it. So when they were the first two teams eliminated, I felt a good deal of the interest factor for this season was taken away.

As for the woman with the prosthetic leg, I always root for the underdog and admire her spirit, however, she is already using her disability to gain sympathy and I tend to agree with the Single Mothers, if she can do the Ironman (or whatever it's called), she can certainly stand in line with the rest of them to board a freaking plane.

Kind of like their let's-not-hug-on-national-TV moment when they got off the plane at the beginning. They sort of started to hug each other, but then changed their minds and raised their arms into a kind of cheer thing. It was so Oprah. Right after that, we saw their manicure shot.

At least they didn't look like the runaway cast of Godspell.

Oh and I don't care that in a commercial i saw for the show last week they showed the Ex Drug Addict Models talking about girls, those two clearly like the cawk.
