was not so taken with POLISH JOKE, QTB, but perhaps my expectations were too high. Love that cast so much, loved ALL IN THE TIMING so much, didn't love this script so much. Act One just seemed to drag, drag, drag. But the audience i was with loved it, and was completely full, and i'm thrilled they have had to extend it. i love Stages and wish all their shows would extend so their financial situation could improve. And Bonasso ROCKED THE HOUSE as usual.
oh yes, i agree! second act was muuuch muuch better. but really, the part with the Polish family who dug from Poland to America was so freakin funny i could barely contain myself. and..
"wouldn't you like to fuuk on that grass!"
you're a sly one, QTBOO. A true partner in crime. Yes, the Polish family miners was hilarious, including the very clever flag-waving "children." Or i guess they could be called "miner's minors."
haha. i try TwoStep, i try...
yes, that was the highlight... So fuuny!

Hey chums!
Sorry is been so long - I've been swamped between rehearsals and homework (and keeping up with all my tv addictions).
Anyways, I saw Les Miz on Saturday night with my grandma and it was fantastic. Before that performance I had never before seen the show and I was absolutley blown away. I've heard people here say Randall Keith was their dream-casted Val Jean, and I must agree. I prefer him to Colm on my cd anyday. He absolutley blew me away, esecially during "Bring him Home" (which when Colm sings, drives me nuts). Despite the review in the H Chron, I though Tonya Dixon was AMAZING and was throughly moved by her rousing "I Dreamed a Dream" was fantastick. Now, I am a HUGE LuPone fan, but Tonyas was still absolutly amazing. Melissa Lyon's Eponine was fantastic, and although shallow/ill-developed at times, especially in the love-triangle moments, I thought her "On my Own" was still fabulous. No one else was "bad" or even "mediocre", just "fine". The only other person that really stuck out as phenomenal was Sean Gilbert as Gavroche. He was so adorable and could really belt it out! I've though his character was kind of annoying before, by listening to the cd, and in move adaptaions, but he made me fall in love with the character. Jennifer Butt was also really fun to watch as Mme. Thenardier. The set, as was expected, was amazing and the lights extremly effective almost always. Nunn's original direction is flawless. Javerts suicide jump is genius, and is the whole turn tabe idea, the way the paris street set turns into the barracade, and the usage of the scrim in so many effective way. I've heard stories of the tour cast sometimes being dry and seemingly tired of what they are performing, with no chemestry, but from my show, you'd think it opening night. I have only good things to say. I noticed only 1 mistake, and being a "theatre person" I'm sure I was one of the only people who noticed. All in all, it was FLAWLESS. Job well done! I'd like to add that there really isn't a bad seat in the house in Sarfim Hall. I'd been there only twice before (to see Grease & LSOH) and I'd sat up front w/ my friends who have season tickets. This time I bought my tickets with money from Christmas, and sat on the 4th to last row in the orchestra on house right and could see everything perfectly - all the facial expressions - everything. I hated how at Jones Hall once you were a few rows up you had to squint. The archetectual design is quite stunning & functional as well. (With the exception of getting out of the parking garage from the 4th floor. That was a trick!)
Thats all I have to say for now. My PVA callback is on Saturday (the 5th) and I do my same 2 monologues & song again. I'm so glad to see y'all are still talking & this thread is goin' strong!
good luck with callback MTT and i'll be thinking good thoughts for you...
