Posted: 2/24/05 at 3:03pmi'm looking forward to seeing Robert Hunt, who was Freddy in MY FAIR LADY for TUTS. i also saw him in BOOBS THE MUSICAL. i just wish he was playing Jean instead of Javert; he has an amazing voice. Pretty easy on the eye as well.

Well imagine my nerves when I found out the cast was going to be there--I was lined up to sing "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables"!! I hadn't even sung that song in YEARS!
Thankfully, I also did "Suddenly Seymour" with Joanne later!

Posted: 2/24/05 at 7:39pmBonasso would be great singing that. And given your wide ranges, it would be fun to hear you sing Audrey's part, JRB, while she belted Seymour's.

ha ha! well, it's perfect with her as Audrey and me as Seymour.
But, I bet we could switch!
HOUSTON#205
Posted: 2/24/05 at 8:00pmthat would just put a new spin on a classic. Or you could do both parts, switching from a plastic pageboy blond wig to nerd glasses. If you recorded your own karoake back-up, you could even sing in harmony with yourself. One of the best drag performers i ever saw used to do the Streisand/Satchmo version of HELLO DOLLY switching back and forth, then when it got to the duet (them singing simultaneously) she'd go psycho for a moment like Jekyll/Hyde. Always brought down the house.

well, QTB, i will be waiting with baited breath to see how it comes out.
JRB, here is a link to the review, which has a picture of Robert Hunt as Javert. Was he possibly there at Meteor (i know it's tough to discern how he might look out of uniform without his hat, which is ironically how i prefer visualizing him). i will possibly recreate Javert's fate during "Stars" if Hunt was at Meteor and i missed flirting with him.

Gad, you're young.
"Grasshopper" etymology: the TV series KUNG FU, where the old master called the young Carradine "grasshopper" as he was trained in the martial arts. It's become a (admittedly dated) comic catchphrase from a mentor to a protege.
Really, what DO they teach kids in school these days?!?!?

Posted: 2/27/05 at 1:53pmoh trust me, tx--there was at least one guy you would have been drooling over---his looks, his voice and his firm handshake.

to quote both Helen Lawson in VALLEY OF THE DOLLS and many another Whitney Houston thread...
"Broadway don't go for BOOZE and DOPE!"
So Whitney better dump Bobby and clean up her act before taking it on the road to the Great White (no offense) Way.
Now if she and her mom were together, like when they recorded I KNOW HIM SO WELL from CHESS, it might be a different story. Cissy can belt and mamma can take care for little Whit. Get cousin Dionne to join in, and you have a family musicale that will sell, sell, sell.

HOUSTON#223
Posted: 2/27/05 at 7:11pmIs this thread not about Thee Whitney Houston, the Whitney Houston who has the most amazing voice in the world!!! She's actually Heather Headley's 2nd cousin. Now i know where heather gets the voice. Those two together could possibley unite the whole world, too bad heather is a lesbian.
