I lived in Houston and Dallas. I found very little to like about Dallas at all. Dallas has WAY too much attitude. It's not an attractive city at all (Houston has the tropical thing going for it. Green year-round). The freeways in Dallas make absolutely no sense and are not really close to anything practical. The only thing I really liked about Dallas was The Ranch (oris it called The Round Up? It's been a while...). Best gay C&W club EVER! Houston has better shopping and the Montrose neighborhood friendlier and prettier than Cedar Springs, though Cedar Springs is not as spread out as Montrose.
Personally, I would encourage anynoe who must live in Texas to move to either Houston or Austin. But Chicago blows them out of the water!

I already PMed C-Q-TBoo about this, but I just wanted to annouce to all my friends on the HOUSTON board that I got by letter for my PVA Callback today! WOOT. That means out of 240 kids, I'm in the final 60 for 30 spots. WOW. Then again, compared to other auditions, thats nothing. So hows everyone?
sick. oy veyzmer. but (as i said in the pm) CONGRATS! yaay! at least one of us will make it in!
when is your aud, QTB?
Dallas actually has a lot of great theatres.
Lyrics Stage
Dallas Theatre Center
Watertower Theatre
Uptown Players
Theatre Arlington
Contemporary Theatre of Dallas
Plano Repertory Theatre
Dallas Children's Theatre
Theatre Arlington
Kitchen Dog Theatre
Classical Acting Company
Just to name a few.
Its nice there are so many because it gives me a chance to audition for/be in a lot of professional shows before college.
But as great as Dallas may be, I'm not a fan.
As soon as I graduate rom HS, Northeast (And Colombia or NYU), here I come.
dallas is too... i dunno, it doesn't have... is character the word i'm looking for?
Well, Dallas has character if you know where too look. Deep Ellum, etc.
It is getting better.
Of course, I live in Highland Park, the bubble. Oy.
houston is nice because there is historic (The Heights), luxury (river oaks), unique (Montrose) etc... i love the theater and music scene, but dallas is considered more of a metropolitan area.
i'll be thinking of you this weekend, QTB. Knock 'em dead!
still sounds promising to me! good luck...
did you get a callback, QTB?
I had a great week in Houston! I actually miss the place now!! :)
I especially had a great time at Meteor for Musical Mondays. Joanne and Greg are hilarious hosts! And, they were very sweet to include me in singing a couple of songs. The theme of the evening was Les Miz, which is in town right now. Some of the cast was there--and they are a friendly, talented bunch of people. So, I would guess this would be a great time for you Houston boys and girls to revisit the barricade!
It was also nice to spend a week in t-shirts instead of a coat and scarf!
he's too young to be there, i think. What cast members were there, i should have gone!
i'm looking forward to seeing Robert Hunt, who was Freddy in MY FAIR LADY for TUTS. i also saw him in BOOBS THE MUSICAL. i just wish he was playing Jean instead of Javert; he has an amazing voice. Pretty easy on the eye as well.
