Jackman's part in The Prestige was somewhere in the gray zone between lead and supporting. The Fountain is his big lead role. And as I said, that movie's been...divisive. To put it kindly. This year laid the groundwork for him to be considered a serious actor rather than just as Wolverine in the future, but I don't think he's going to get an award unless The Fountain's mainstream reviews turn out a whole lot differently than I suspect they will.

I'd still put Catherine O'Hara in there for Supporting Actress. She and Eugene Levy were snubbed wrongly for A Mighty Wind and this performance in Consideration is absolutely brilliant.

Don't you mean Home For Thanksgiving? And I certainly hope O'Hara is nominated. Her performance in the last third of the film is worthy, but the journey her character takes is so incredible to watch.

Well, according to all the buzz I've heard around, Scorsese, Nicholson, Mirren and Hudson should start preparing their speeches ! The rest are all open ! And I also think, for Best Picture, the big battle will be between Departed and Dreamgirls!

The last shot of The Departed alone should keep Scorsese from winning. I think the film is the most overrated of the year. It was fine for what it was, but nothing special, and certainly not Scorsese's best, by far.

I would like to see Stranger Than Fiction pick up some nominations as I thought it was magnificent. It was hands down Will Ferrell's best work and of course Emma Thompson was fabulous. I am going to try to see The Queen this weekend if it's still playing.

STRANGER THAN FICTION should get an original screenplay nod.

Yes, but will they bring back Debbie Allen to do the choreography????? It's just not an Oscar show without it.

Reviews for The Fountain are coming in, and with a few exceptions, they aren't pretty. Jackman's acting is being complimented, but I don't think this movie will be a sufficiently popular vehicle to get him any awards. The cinematography and design of the movie might succeed, but that's about it.

What made you change your mind for Sacha Baron Cohen to be more of a nomination lock than Leonardo? Just curious.

You really think they will give Eastwood TWO directing nominations? I doubt it. Letter's is receiving far greater critical praise anyway.

Baron Cohen isn't a long-shot by any means, but a lock for a nomination... at this point I can't agree.

I think when one wants to seriously predict Oscar nominations, they have put their prejudices aside as best as possible. Loving something or hating something--and then including it or not including it, respectively, can lead you astray.

Really, Mirren is a shoo-in? I wouldn't count out Penelope Cruz. She could take that category.

And I'm SHOCKED that no one has mentioned the Oscar-worthy acting in "Snakes on a Plane".

I starred in a short film called Magnetic Personality. Check it out!
