Week 13:
Starting Weight: 221.5
Last Wednesday's Weight: 198
Today's Weight: 198
No change, which is really surprising.
I expected it to be up a lb or two. The air conditioning has been out in my apartment and I've been dealing with my landlord who doesn't seem to care too much about it and it has been really irritating. When I get irritated I eat. A lot. I also haven't been exercising because it's too hot in my apartment.
Therefore, last Friday I declared this week my first and only "wash" and didn't go crazy, but ate things I wanted. We hope the air will be fixed in the coming days so this creature of habit can get back into his routine.

Thanks.
Yeah, the one thing I can't deal with is being hot. I need climate control.
When I get hot you see a Bill Bixby/Lou Ferrigno type change.

Well, I've been up and down like a friggin' yo yo.
back in November, I hit my all-time low, which was 40 pounds off my starting weight.
Then came Thanksgiving and, frankly, I struggled through March to get back on track.
I finally started but things (like dating a guy who likes to dine out) kept getting in the way.
For the last four weeks, though, I have been doing very well and, after going up 10 pounds since November, I'm back down to one pound over my original.
So, Colleen, I get your frustration. I went from 40 down to 30 down to 35 to 30...you see the yo yo.
SO don't let your time with your mother get you down. Losing weight without her presence means you can do it. So just be patient.

On the downward swing again!
It also helps that I have changed my weigh in day to the middle of the week. I have no trouble staying within my daily points if I have to during the week, but on Sunday nights and Mondays (my weekend), it's almost impossible. Plus, I'm not eating a lot of food the day before the weigh in.
So, if you ever find yourself in a plateau, this might be a great idea for you.
Exercise Tip from Jerby: The Biggest Loser Workout video. I never watched this show, but this video is incredible. The workouts are good for you whatever your body type--the trainer (who is VERY easy on the eyes) is great about telling you how to modify the routine if it's too much for where you are physically. He is great about reminding you about your form and what to be thinking about while doing a movement--which I have found to be more lacking in other vids. You can craft your own work out from the choices or follow a 6 week plan. It lets you alternate cardio and weights (hand weights). It's a nice combination of traditional aerobics and tai bo with aspects of pilates. And, I have noticed great change in just the first 2 weeks.
I'm probably going to check out this show next season. The contestants' changes are amazing. One guy went from morbidly obese to now having a six pack! And, that's inspiration if ever! I think a big problem with exercise and dieting is feeling like you'll never get there--that it's not even possible. Well, clearly it's possible. I'm knowing that just with the change in my body. It just takes TIME. And, thus, PATIENCE.
So keep it up!

I adore the Biggest Loser video. It is supposed to be my rain/freezing cold option when I can't get out running. Unfortuntely my DVD player went schitzo about 3 weeks ago, so it's on my shelf waiting until I get another DVD player up in here.
Bob the trainer is definitely my favorite part of the video, he is so yummy to look at it is easy to forget you're inches away from keeling over.

Still no air conditioning. My landlord is "taking bids" from different companies to replace it.
Ugh.
Fortunately it's been very cool out or else you would have seen news footage describing the aftermath of my rage.
I haven't felt like exercising a lot for fear that it'll get hot, but I have still been doing weights. Even though the weight hasn't been dropping at the pace that I'd like I am definitely noticing that things are getting tighter so that's a good thing.

Posted: 5/24/06 at 10:28amYou always see some small gains with aspects of tightening up, Patronus... The body has to readjust lots to new aspects of you. As long as you keep persevering, that's what counts! Don't give up on the weights. And I know the heat can be unbearable. But work through it... Just a little bit. You might find yourself conditioning to it a bit as well...

Oh, I already have noticed a changed from the heat.
I went to Barnes and Noble last night and was FREEZING in there. I normally wear shorts in the winter.
Who knows? This air conditioning thing may help me save big bucks on my electricity bill this summer.

On a completely unrelated note...I adore your avatar, Patronus. Jack Bauer kicks ass.

Ah, thanks! I love the Jack Bauer.
Note the new "signature" quote. I've become a huge fan of the cheesy Jack Bauer Chuck Norris joke rip-offs.

Not much good word here. The air's still out.
It is apparently going to be repaired this morning.
I've declared a state of eating right "embargo" until the air conditioning is working again. I've been drowning my sorrows in food.
I'm up a pound, but as soon as it's working I am back on the diet and excercising like a mad man.

My parents are FINALLY gone, so I am back on track. I ended up being up about 5 pounds, but I've already lost most of it and am up only 1 pound from where I was when they arrived. I am sure that will be gone (plus hopefully more) by next week.
It has been absurdly hot here though, which totally demotivates me to work out.
But I got into the workstudy program at my dance studio, so starting next week I'll be getting 4 free hours of class a week....so at least that'll always be assured when it's too damn hot to go running.

Posted: 6/3/06 at 1:14pmColeen_Lee, I went out and got a bunch of work-out tapes so I wouldn't use that as an excuse. It's been working pretty well though. If you ever work up the courage pilates helps alot. If your a singer it also makes you diaphram thingy stronger so I find belting a litter easier too!!!
