That's the spirit, papa!

Two weeks was a good amount of time for your body to get used to the regimen.

But I'm all for pushing yourself sooner if you can!

Now, would you be able to add a drop down set of assisted chin-ups to your regimen? Just to round out the muscle group workout?

papa: what you've been doing. Starting with a higher weight and then moving onto a lower one.

Addy, you're next for a personal training session at the gym!

oh, ok, i've got the chin ups in there after my run and stretch. i usually break things up and do a set of chin ups, then a set each of whatever the other two exercises are that day, take a drink of water and repeat the process.

A drop down set sounds like something we Southern folk do in front of a big table full of casseroles.

that whole flys with the cables thing is a little too close to hellraiser for me. i see guys doing it and their faces straining in the mirror always whisper to me, "jesus wept."

this is going slow for me. i'm trying to reverse 18 years of stagnation and substance abuse and conquer my uncanny ability to abandon goals and eat heroic amounts of ice cream. it's my turtle impression, slow and steady. although i realized that working out for 40 days straight might not be the best idea, so i added in a few off days to let my body recup a bit.

I've recently put assisted chin-ups back into my routine. I'd forgotten how much I hate, hate, hate those! My poor little dislocatable shoulder.

Wait until you add 55 lbs to your own body weight and do chin ups then...

I can't barely chin-up my own body weight, let alone 55 pounds of something else's.

Thanks to a skydiving incident, my shoulder becomes dislocated if I bend my arm incorrectly. I think the arm would fall off if I tried to do a weighted chin-up.

Weighted pull ups are, however...

i've got weeks and weeks before i have to worry about those. now i just have to power through what feels like either strep or my throat rebelling against the lack of nicotine.

The only chin up that I'm going to be able to pull off right now involves cosmetic surgery.
