Posted: 1/10/08 at 11:48amI think people are hesitating because they're requiring a check of $144.00 up front for the 12 weeks. It's the month after Christmas, and lots of folks may have over-extended themselves. What they should have done (and have done in the past) is offer to deduct the fees bi-weekly from people's paychecks so they'd feel the hit less. For some reason they can't.

Good for everyone for starting off the New Year with a bang! I lost 15 lbs on WW last year - looked and felt great.
I can't follow it now because I am pregnant (I actually have to eat a little bit more than I used to) but eating junk isn't good for me or for baby peach, so I am trying to maintain a low fat, healthy eating plan - just eating more of the low fat healthy foods. So I may be popping in here for recipes!
Good luck to all!

peach - be careful of too much low fat, though. Your baby needs a substantial amount of "good fat" for its developing brain and body!
jrb - I lost 20 pounds on South Beach and have kept it off - good for you! I'm back on Phase 2 for the time being, I need to lose about 8 pounds.

Thanks blue! I don't want to threadjack the WW thread - but I was a big poster in this thread last year - so felt the need to explain myself!
I actually am still trying to follow the healthy eating guidelines in WW -- they are good for anyone. I just can't "cut" any calories really (I actually get to add 300), and need to eat a lot more dairy/calcium foods and lean proteins than would normally be allowed in WW.
ETA: misschung - good point! I do get plenty of the good fats (lean meats, low mercury fish, 1 or 2% dairies, nuts, olives, avocados, etc.) I just try to avoid the "bad fat" foods - like the fried stuff, etc. Not good for anyone.

^^ Mauriposa, thanks! I think it would not only be unhealthy, but impossible to do that Flex Plan if you are following regular pregnancy eating guidelines. My doctor says no dieting, no losing weight.
Where WW comes in handy for me right now though - is the knowledge I have already gotten for what foods are healthiest and "nutrient-packed" (basically, the healthy eating guidelines). Pregnancy eating is a lot more focused on the actual nutrients in each food, more so than on calories or fat.

I figured as much, peach
lol, when my mom was pregnant with me she said she ate a salad bowl full of fruit every day. My grandmother used to be like "are you eating ALL of that?"
I've heard of women eating low fat foods throughout their pregnancies, and I just shake my head. I mean, you can't eat big macs either, but as you said - healthy fats are so important!
Does the Flex Plan for WW really work?

misschung - Yes, Flex Plan really works. That's how I lost 15 lbs. last year.
You need to be careful though, not to rely too much on packaged foods with it (this is an easy trap to fall into on Flex). But if you go about it smart, it works and it's very healthy. It takes a little while to get into the swing of it, but once you get the hang of it, you know what you should and shouldn't eat a lot of (although anything in moderation, and within point value is technically allowed!), and you pretty much memorize the points values for your favorite foods, so you don't need to look everything up. Plus, you get extra points for exercising, so it's a good workout motivator.

Posted: 1/10/08 at 12:56pmOh, it definitely works. I lost 30 pounds in 3 months this summer with the Flex Plan. It takes a good deal of effort to track every little thing you put in your mouth and planning to make sure your daily points add up, but it's worth it in the end. I strongly encourage everyone to try it.

Congratulations, peach!
I agree with everyone else: the WW Flex Plan definitely does work. I lost 25 pounds going to Weight Watchers meetings last summer following the Flex Plan, and then have lost 25 more since then not attending meetings but sticking to the plan guidelines. It's not a quick fix if, say, you want to lose 10 pounds in a short amount of time, but it's great in teaching you long-term healthy eating habits and gradually reaching and maintaining your goal weight.

As yoda said, I have finally joined the WW wagon. After gaining quite a lot of weight since last summer, it was really time.
I am very happy with the flex plan so far. There is no way I could do the core plan, but flew has been great. And it is easy to follow and very much the way to go I think.
