Olby and Madcow are trying to make it a "draw."
Their alternative lifestyle universe is truly amazing.

Posted: 10/2/08 at 11:15pmObama has all the momentum in the campaign right now, and nothing happened tonight to change that. If anything, Biden did well to reinforce Obama's message, and he came across as competent and ready. Nothing in Palin's performance will do anything to sway independent or undecided voters. I don't know if this will give Obama any sort of appreciable bump, but there was no win for McCain tonight.

Initial polling has Biden winning.
But 33% called it a draw.

PalJoey is GOSH-DARN DRUNK!
I am so MAVERICK tonight you would think I was JOE SIXPACK himself.
If only Joe Sixpack had a sixpack, I would be a Republican.
But every Joe Sixpack I've ever blown has a BEERGUT.
GOSH DARN, anyone want to join me in a NIGHTCAP?

Palin 75%
Biden 23%
""Obama has all the momentum in the campaign right now, and nothing happened tonight to change that.""
The above statement will look ridiculous on Monday!

papa and bickle or whoever he/she is:
Tonight America saw how McCain puts "Country First", he selected a very charming woman who may have the background to be a mayor of a small town and the Governor of Alaska, his choice is flawed and a slap of any reasonable person of intelligence!

your're right, Bickle. Congrats to McCain.
Now, let's all call it a night so Bickle can visit his right hand.

HD, put the pipe down. You have had enough!
When Obama wins in November I am guessing you will say he cheated. You are stubborn fool who refuses to face the facts. You always have to be on the winning team no matter what. Sad little closeted troll you are.

I would have no problem imagining Biden as President. Having Palin as President still scares me. And not just because of her ideology.
I thought that while she didn't blow spit bubbles, she came across as a scared cat or some kind of rapid fire, fact spitting automaton. All the press focus on her intensive training worked against her. Every time she answered (particularly when she answered questions that weren't even asked in lieu of ones she'd memorized the answer to) I thought, "wow, they really did a good job of drilling this into her. and she really memorized it well."
I was actually impressed with her coordination of it all.
But the bottom line is I left feeling that she could repeat an answer. But, if she hadn't been prepped, she wouldn't be able to give an answer that actually came from her own knowledge and thought process. That's what's still missing.
If you watched her while Biden was taking, you could tell what her response was going to be. She would watch him until he mentioned a word in his answer that was one of her key words and you'd see her smile, suddenly knowing which memorized speechlette she'd drag up.
I think in the end, she reassured her base. Though they didn't need real reassurance of her competence anyway. Just that she wouldn't repeat her Couric debacle. After all, they aren't looking for intelligence, just someone that believes the same things they do. And Palin is the first and only one in this race, since Huckabee that does.
But nobody wins an election with their base. You need the independents. Period. And I think Biden's even tempered, intelligent, informed performance, layed out there next to her's, which, in my opinion, clearly demonstrates that she does not have a cohesive comprehension of our country, the world and its dynamics, is what will bring independents over to Obama's side.
I think this was a good debate for Dems and agree with whomever said that Biden mopped the floor with Palin, at least for the voters that will make a difference in this race.

The winking and the Cheneyesque dreams of increased Vice Presidential power over the legislative branch are the annoying style and the appaling substance points of Palin in this debate.
Biden choking up to prove that men have feelings about their children too was the single most human moment of the night, because winky "as a mahm" completely lost her "mahm" card at that moment. Biden's best substance was "He's not a maverick. He's not a maverick. He's not a maverick."
