Sorry, but my computer has been out of commission for a few days. But, I have been sending you Warlow prayers to you and yours whilst I was away.

The Anthony Warlow song of the day for Sunday, April 9 2006. Once again I will select today's song in the absence of our heralded high priestess.
This Nearly Was Mine
Anthony shines on this classic song from South Pacific that is actually more in the bass range than baritone. It contains numerous notes down in the low A to G range down at the bottom of the bass clef. However, Anthony shows off that even though he has an amazing high range, he can also pack some power down in the cellar as well. What makes this song even that much more amazing is that Anthony leaves out the entire B section ("So clear and deep are my fancies..etc") and it still comes off as truly magnificient.
Way to beat me to it
I was just getting ready to post something! But your selections the pas two days have been great. I don't know "On the Boards," but your summary of it really makes me want to.
And I agree with everything you've said about "This Nearly Was Mine."
Thanks Kitzy! I wasn't trying to one-up you or anything but I didn't want the world to have to go without an Anthony Warlow song of the day
The arrangement of the strings in This Nearly Was Mine blends really really nicely with Anthony's voice. That and the diminuendo on the last note make this a recording that i play at least once every few days. Why is it that Some Enchanted Evening is so much more famous?
Ok, I am TOTALLY here this morning! I appologize for being out of commision the past few days. I really don't have an excuse.
Warlow Song of the Day: Moon River
Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favorite movies of all time, and the scene where Miss Audrey sings this song is utterly heartbreaking and beautiful all at the same time. When I saw that Mr. Warlow had recorded this song, I jumped at the chance to hear it. I was not disappointed. His clear, pure tone and heartfelt inflection make this classic song even more beautiful than before. Plus I really like the strings in the background; too often theatre solo albums can have a synthesized or canned orchestra. But not our Warlow!
I also like how he uses the Debussey piano piece "Claire de Lune" as the intro and ending of the piece. It is a neat combination with "Moon River". It really makes the song that much more beautiful.

I wanna hear him croon "Hey There" from Pajama Game!
I think I might die if he did.
Especially since the end of the song would contain him singing a duet with himself! (a la his version of "You're Nothing Without Me")
Is it awful that I only just realized that he did both parts on that song? I've only been listening to it for HOW many years??
That's OK Kitzy..I didn't realize it at first either. It wasn't until I read it online that I knew and then I immediately kicked myself for not realizing it on my own. It was so obvious once I listened to it again.
Anthony Warlow pic of the day: Anthony sporting a goatee and moustache during rehearsals for Man of La Mancha.
Wow, he looks different.
I forgot about his lovely blond hair. Such an attractive older man
Whenever you forget about his blonde hair -- just look at my av! (well..until I change it to a more recent pic)
BUMP
It seems as if the Church of Warlow has been disbanded...as I found this thread wallowing on Page 3. Anyway...in a last ditch effort to resuscitate the thread (and maybe the entire church) here is the Anthony Warlow song of the day, and an item for discussion.
Song of the Day: "Hello, Little Girl"
Anthony does an admirable job tackling a Sondheim song that seems a bit of an odd choice out of context (but that is what makes him so wonderful!). His voice as the wolf reminds me a bit of how he sounds later on as Hyde. Also, who doesn't love his "A-WOOOOOOO" at the end of the song!
Discussion Topic: What are some roles in musical theatre that you would love to see Anthony play (or hear him sing on a recording)? They can be roles he has already done or dream roles.

Wow.. no posts here for a while...
a new member from Australia. I must admit, reading this thread made me join. Anyway, my Warlow story...
Last year, I grew obsessed with "Phantom of the Opera" when I saw the film. (an obsession I have long since recovered from, thank goodness!). I borrowed a cd from the library called "The best of Musical Theatre Australia" because I recognized some familiar songs on the title- Music of the Night and All I Ask of You. On that cd, Anthony sang MotN, Anthem, Luck Be a Lady and one other that evades my mind right now. I was instantly a fan. The warmth, richness, beauty and wonder of his voice blew me away. This was probably about May last year. I began collecting his cds and downloading whatever I could find on the internet. I shortly after heard news that he was going to perform "HMS Pinafore" and "Trial By Jury" in Sydney. My dad, being a huge G&S fan, was interested in going and I was interested because of Anthony. The tickets being very expensive, dad only bought tickets for himself and mum. The show was also then recorded and played on the radio, which dad recorded it off. I began listening to both shows. I was amazed, absolutely blown away. I became determined to try and get dad to take me to see it live. After my dad saw it, he loved it so much that he decided to pay for me to see it, knowing what a fan of Warlow I was by now. On the 2nd of November last year, I stepped into the Opera Theatre at the Sydney Opera House and sat down to which the magic that was HMS Pinafore. He blew me away. His acting, his singing, his wonderful stage presence. Nothing missed my notice. Pinafore finished, and I was in awe, and so excited because Trial By Jury was coming up. As Trial by Jury started, one of the greatest moments of my life happened. (hehe) As the "drunk judge" he entered the stage by first going right through row B. I was sitting in Row A (the very front!). He shook various hands as he went along and clanked his plastic bag of beer bottles. As he came to me, he paused for a moment and said "Hello dear, how are you?" in his funny drunken voice. A moment I shall always treasure as I'm quite certain I'll never have the good fortune to be spoken to by him again. I shall always remember it. I couldn't answer, I was so stunned. I then sat back and watched his wonderful performance as the Drunken Judge, in which I was totally and utterly blown away by his magnificence in acting.
Since then my love has only deepened. I shall be seeing him as the Pirate King on the 9th of September and I can't WAIT. He is my favourite singer ever.
There's not much I wouldnt' give to be Taryn Fiebig in the above picture! (I happen to have met Taryn personally, but that is another story.) For those who don't know: that is Anthony as the "drunk judge" in Trial By Jury, with the lovely Taryn Fiebig as the plaintiff Angelina on his knee.
As the pope of the CHURCH OF WARLOW, I welcome thee to it's blessed gathering. That is a great story, and one that I wish I could have experienced. But, one day I will smite the evil known as "non-sufficient funds" and triumphantly go to Australia and meet the VOCAL GOD himself. But, until then . . . may he shine his vocal blessings upon you, my child.
In the name of the VOICE, the TALENT, and the WARLOW . . . Amen!

Thankyou so much for the welcome! It's much appreciated! I am glad to now be in the congregation of the Church of Warlow. And I hope that as the Pope you shall some day make it to Australia to see him.
The above picture: Anthony imitating Jack Sparrow as the Pirate King and the gorgeous David Hobson as Frederick.
I too, am a worshipper of Warlow. The first song I heard him sing was "Lily's Eyes."

Enjoying the photos that have been shared.
He IS Enjolras to me and the best J & H. Ever. He should, perhaps, come to Broadway in PHANTOM?
