What a depressing topic this is!

We were talking in acting class the other day about how when Johnny Carson passed away it made headlines for weeks above all these "dumb" stories we get now. The country paused to say goodbye - everyone loved him.

Then we got to talking about how sad it is going to be to say goodbye to see other beloved ones go...

Can you IMAGINE the day Dick Van Dyke leaves us? Like I said, this is quite a DEPRESSING topic. I didn't realize how old he and other are. Here's to 20+ more happy years!

Betty White (84)
Dick Van Dyke (80)
Mary Tyler Moore (70)
Bill Cosby (70)
Julie Andrews (71)
Barbra Streisand (64)
Bette Midler (61)
Carole Burnett (73)
Ed McMahon (83)
Andy Griffith (80)

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

It always surprises me when I realize how old some of my favorites are getting. I mean, I know I'm getting older all the time but it seems like they should stay the same age they were when I saw them on TV or in my favorite movie!

I love Betty White, I hope she lives to 100.

It says something about her relative disappearance that Elizabeth Taylor isn't on that list. There was a time when no one could have imagined a bigger star. I know in certain circles it will be a day for considerable reflection.

If you are gonna have Bette, I would have to add Cher to the list. Think of the response Sonny got when he passed. She will be 61 this year.

The age of some of the celebs just amazes me. Makes me feel like I am getting old WAY too fast.

Goldie Hawn 61
Diane Keaton 61
Harrison Ford 63
Dustin Hoffman 69
Glenn Close 60
Dolly Parton 61
Jane Fonda 68
Lily Tomlin 66
Burt Reynolds 70
Sally Field 59
Stockard Channing 62
Shirley MacLaine 74

I will mourn for months when Julie Andrews dies. How morbid this topic is.

Because I have always been such a Cher fan, I have always wondered what I would do when she passed...lol. I used to have a pretty hardcore obsession. I cried like a baby when Sonny died. I was working in an office and my mother called and put the phone by the TV when Cher spoke.

Ohhhh and Blythe Danner is 63! I think I have a gmilf crush on her.

Zone, have you seen Bea lately? She's definitely showing her age.

I don't think it's really that anyone is freaking out that anyone is 60. It's more like freaking that 60 doesn't look like it used to to you. When I was a kid, I thought the high school kids looked so old. Then in high school the people in their 20s looked old. Now that I am 30, unless you are in the 75+ category, you don't look that old to me. Pretty soon, I think dead folks are gonna look young to me.

That is what I was responding to, JG. 60 does not mean imminent death.

Ah, gotcha Rath.

Not now, anyway. People are living forever. Imagine nursing homes in 30 years. All these people running around with breast implants and Viagra and NO idea what to do with them.

Not that death is near...just that 60 is the spark of old age.
