I decided not to watch.
made a nice salad with baked chicken, just lit a cedar smudge stick, have my TOTO playlist on and a glass of bourbon. Windows open listening to the rain.
I will see the highlights on the news. I just can't this evening!

Tonight's debate was, in all honesty, a complete mess. Neither candidate made much of an impression on me, and of course 45 constantly tampered with the rules as he repeatedly spoke over Chris Wallace, went very much overtime, and interrupted Biden during the "uninterrupted" segments (drinking game for those who haven't seen it yet: do a shot every time Wallace says "Mr. President" as he tries to end a squabble).
I don't think the polls these next few days will show much of an impact from tonight, though I will admit the Incompetent Incumbent let himself down much more than his counterpart. What an unbearable, nightmarish watch.

Round 1 was just awful but I do agree with Nicolle Wallace's suggestion that men and women will have different takeaways. Chris Wallace was not as effective a moderator as I anticipated. Biden acquitted himself fairly well but looked somewhat frail. Trump simply tried to reassert his alpha dog status and was a complete embarrassment. I absolutely will not watch the remaining debates between Trump and Biden. Since my ballot arrived in the mail today I'll complete it first thing in the morning and immediately drop it off at the election office. I've seen enough now.

Trump telling the Proud Boys to stand by is a call for violence.
They should go ahead with the Veep Debate, but cancel the other two. We'll learn nothing new. The country has suffered enough.

Tuesday was a disaster for Trump.
My prediction is the Trump campaign will refuse to agree to any change in the rules and will use that excuse to not participate in the next two debates.

Oh the mangled apricot hell-beast will be there, his ego will never allow for anything else. They need to tighten the rules and have control of the mics to cut him off though.

I agree with everything you say. They did manage to talk him out of daily coronavirus updates after he suggested we inject bleach. I think his ego will also get in the way of agreeing to new rules.

The first debate of 2020 had around thirteen million fewer viewers than the first debate in 2026. My takeaway: most people have already made up their minds and don't feel the need to sit through Trump's crap; four years ago there was some novelty but most are over this.

Actually, viewership went down by 13%, not 13 million viewers. And this is just the TV numbers, which don't account for the dramatic rise in streaming that has occurred in the past four years. I streamed the debate online this week, as did many people I know. So, while it's possible that this debate saw a significant decline in viewership, we don't really know for sure.

Did you watch the first Romney-Obama debate? Obama was so bad and lifeless even Chris Matthews did not have his normal tingle. Meanwhile Obama did fine after that debate and easily won re-election.

I think this covid test result could be the nail in the coffin for Trump’s re-election chances. I thought as I watched the debate that everything now centers around Covid and the other topics were secondary.

If I were Kamala Harris the upcoming veep debate would be either virtual or cancelled. I suspect that most voters would understand if she no longer trusts this administration on any level. I sure as hell don't.

The debates are typically what is used to get those who have yet to pick a candidate to vote for to make that choice. However, in this situation, people have made that choice a long while back. And yet, after reading an article in the Washington Post, I wish I could say that I was shocked to read an article about how, even though their lord and savior Trump has COVID, Their views about it have yet to change. Wish I could say I was shocked, but I am not.
