Wow.
And I was going to change my avatar today but since getting more nasty emails from Owen22, I think I'll keep it up a little longer.

Where is Stevie Wonder going to perform??

New Hampshire
North Carolina

Jordan don't change your avatar to appease any of the SORRY ASS MOTHER F*CKERS ON THIS BOARD who are asking you to change it.
I want one of you SORRY ASS MOTHER F*CKERS hiding behind your screens to IM asking me to change my avatar so I can have the pleasure of telling you what you can do with yourself!
I agree about the avatar. I think it's funny how said person has not even come into this thread with a response of any sort. Just like they bitch and complain about stupid stuff on the main board.

The jury gave George Zimmerman the benefit of the doubt. George Zimmerman gave Trayvon Martin the benefit of the guilt. Black boys and young black men get the message that that's how it's going to be in this culture from the time they are children.
This is why, in discussions like this, white people do not get to declare that this case "isn't about race." I know we white people are told from the time we are children that *we* get the last word, but we don't. I have had it up to here with white people thinking they understand what it's like being a young black male in this culture, of sneeringly using the phrase "playing the race card," of honestly thinking that if they declare "this isn't about race!" it isn't!

Reports are coming in that radio host Tom Joyner has offered Rachel Jeantel a full scholarship to attend any historically black college or university (HBCU) of her choice as well as a tutor to help her prep for the SAT exam. For some reason the Business Insider page is taking forever to load or I'd post the link. I'm happy that someone is looking out for her as it appears a few jurors are trying to get their 15 minutes of fleeting fame. I also hope that Rachel realizes that this is a once in a lifetime opportunity and that she'd best not f*u*c*k it up.

Did you see her interview on Piers Morgan last night? It was slightly cringeworthy, but she keeps it real and is very straightforward. I love that.

That's real nice, javero. Who the hell do you think you are taking a scolding tone towards a person you don't even know? This is the thing that is driving me bonkers with these discussions, the level of ENTITLEMENT that remains unchecked in so many people.

And you know me. Shut the hell up for once!

Actually, I have barely said anything in this thread. Who the hell are you to come on like some benevolent dictator in your commentary about the young woman?

It was a private message making a request. Owen 22 didn't try to publicly shame Jordan. Why didn't Jordan simply privately decline (with extreme prejudice if need be) instead of making it public? Now we have a page that's ALL about Jordan and his avatar - and THAT's what's disrespectful. If anyone has a response to this, please do it via PM. Thanks.
On topic - twitter defeats one of the juror's bright ideas about writing a book.
eta: so many personal attacks here. Can't we just stick to the damn topic?

"The jury gave George Zimmerman the benefit of the doubt. George Zimmerman gave Trayvon Martin the benefit of the guilt."
It was kind of hard for Zimmerman to not give Trayvon the "benefit of the guilt", seeing as Zimmerman witnessed Martin in a criminal act.

A criminal act that Zimmerman himself provoked. I don't think walking down the street in early evening is a criminal act.

Since you are agreeing that Martin's actions were criminal, what criminal act did Zimmerman do to "provoke" the criminal attack?
" I don't think walking down the street in early evening is a criminal act. "
I don't either. So Zimmerman walking down the street is not a criminal act. Nor is it an aggressive act. So who acted aggressively and criminally?

Javero, your presumption that the woman needs to be warned not to mess up her "once in a lifetime opportunity" (your words not mine) is, in some way, not reflective of the same presumption of failure that have always kept black people down in the US? Please explain how it is different.
Trayvon Martin was confronted by Zimmerman. He was profiled. I guess Stand your Ground only refers then to the person with a gun.
That is unless you are a black woman who chooses to fire off a warning shot to stop an attack.

This should send his faux outrage into overdrive
Taz, I'm allergic to marshmallow dander. Please change your avatar.
Which act did Zimmerman witness prior to the stalking, the harassment? Which act did Zimmerman witness before he murdered Trayvon Martin?
Namo,
You are not the judge and jury here of my thoughts or what's in my heart. I'm not about to willingly submit to your authority nor by presumed consent.
Good Day, Sir!
