That would be a shock, and I really don't think it's true. I know Adam said the only way he would be in the show again was if the entire cast came back, which I highly doubt. It's time for Rent to die down in their careers a bit. Bring on the new projects!
Also, it's hard to rely on such a statement with ZOMG in the same sentence.
btw- Congrats Brina! I would also love to read your speech, and I praise you for writing about Raul. It's hard to speak about such topics among high school students.
Aw, I was kind of exciting about the possible changes to the show. I guess I don't feel so bad about not going to BB Kings now.
I'd hope he'd take a new project before returning to Rent again. It's probably more wishful thinking on her part.

This is what the friend posted in response:
Actually, I'M the friend that met Anthony. He said the comment to the entire CROWD saying that he and Adam will be going back to Broadway to play their previous roles. According to Anthony, nothing has been signed YET but he and Adam are definitely going to do it. AND, he did tell us WHEN they are both going to be back to their roles, but since I don't like you I'm not going to tell you so I can be a greedy little bitch and buy the tickets :)
So, I guess it sounds legit. It would be nice if those two girls weren't so nasty, though.

... wait, I guess the "friend" immediately deleted her comment to me. This is so bizarre.
Wasn't misschung seeing Anthony tonight, too? Maybe she'll be able to confirm it.

It sounds official.
I'm not pleased.
hmmm, well we were just speaking earlier about how everyone dismissed the RENT movie rumors so quickly....you never know.
I would love this to happen, for the purely selfish reasons of me never getting to see them the first time. However, it would be a big no no on a career path. It would look bad for both the show (stunt casting) and them (can't get anything better?). But what do I know.

I don't think it's a case of "can't get anything better." I think that the Neder officials know that it would bring in a huge amount of ticket sales, and I'm sure both Adam and Anthony would be paid well for their time.
The person who initially deleted her comment replied again to me:
I'M the friend that met Anthony and he told the entire crowd (which consisted of about 70 other people) that he and Adam will be coming back to Broadway. Nothing has been set in stone, YET, BUT Anthony said it will definitely be happening. Anthony also said he and Adam will be on Broadway for 6 weeks, as for the time it'd be better to keep that under raps until Anthony, Adam or the people of RENT decide to tell everyone...Anthony did tell us but I won't say anything else until Anthony announces it on his official website.
Considering that two people independent of each other have confirmed this, I'd imagine it's true.

If it's supposed to be under raps, why would he announce it at a talk full of people he knows from experience will rush to the internet? Just in case someone stumbles across this thread 2 years from now, I'm not going to attack the sources. But I'm going to chalk it up to rumor until Adam/Anthony/someone more official confirms it publically.
I don't personally think its "they can't get better", I'm just thinking about the other non-AP/AR fans. You see how they attack things on the main board, lol!
Wow! **Starts looking at schedule for next 6 months.**

As much as I love Rent, I really want to hear Adam sing something new and fresh, rather than Glory. I love the song, but, after 10 or so years, it needs a break.
If they come back to Rent, i'm sure i'll be seeing it, but I don't know if I can handle such an immense crowd of teenybopper fangirls.
Stage - steel toed boots.
I'd obviously want to see it, but I'm sort of at a loss for words.
skittles has a good point, too. Why announce it to a huge audience if he's not supposed to be talking about it? He out of all people should understand how connected fans are the to Internet.
Why are we taking these people's word as "official?"
I think it's ridiculous and I absolutely do not believe it.

Well, I just don't know why two people who aren't LJ friends (not the friend who came to back up the first girl's story, but the two different links that I posted) would say that Anthony mentioned this when he really didn't. I personally believe that Anthony told this to the crowd, although who knows if the deal will actually go through. Everyone is obviously entitled to their own opinion on the matter. Just spreading what I've read. :)
If this DOES happen, I'm going to take comfort in the fact that we'll be seeing Adam in those f*cking plaid pants again.

For some reason all I can think about is what weird serendipity it is that skittles should have looked up that old thread tonight.
I thought that, too. And then looking at the way I responded, I figured on the "some things never change," adage.
I hope this isn't true. Of course I would go see them, but I really believe RENT 10 was supposed to serve this purpose. I can only imagine how awkward it would be to have Adam + Anthony with the current Broadway cast. I think their connection and great chemistry on stage would completely deter from their connection with the rest of the cast. /just my thoughts.

Oh, I AGREE, Fantab. I shudder at the thought of Adam alongside Antonique Smith (yes, I realize she'll be gone soon, but you know what I mean).

hey all - I just got back from Anthony's reading. It was great! Lots of fangirls, and he did seem a little bit tired, but he was very sweet as usual and dealt with the long book signing line. There were only about 200 ppl there because that was the max amount for the space, so the line wasnt insane - but they made it clear that there would be NO posed pictures because it takes too long. sigh, oh well - still got to meet him and get my book signed!
ANYWAY to add to these rumors about Adam and Anthony - Anthony tonight said that "nothing has been signed in blood, but..." he and Adam are planning to return to Rent in August of this year for a 6 week run. When I went up to get my book signed I said "please come to broadway this summer" and he said "I think it's gonna happen." So take that info with a grain of sand, obviously. But I doubt he would mention it to a room full of fangirls (and some boys) if he werent almost positive that it was happening.
Also, immediately after the reading people started going on ticketmaster ordering tix for August. I really want to know soon if this rumor is true because if they are all sold out I'll be mad!
ok, thats my two cents for the evening, good night!

Adam is recording his album in August, too.
Maybe he'll record it in New York... since Sh-k-Boom is based here?

That's what I was getting at - the timing seems right.
I'm so tempted to buy a ticket, but we don't know exact start/end dates.
I'm not spending a dime until those contracts are signed and the press releases are out.
