Wise idea. Neither am I, but it's tempting. You never know - it could end up happening, but for July rather than August or something like that, too. It would be a bummer to essentially waste all that money.
I think they'll be hard to get if it's true, but not impossible by any means.
I don't get why they'd do it. Adam, especially, because he's so against the pigeonhole. It's not great for his reputation.

lol! I said the same thing. With my luck I'll buy it for the one day both of them are off. On the other hand I dont want it to sell out.
Did you guys know that Anthony is goign to be directing Rent in South Africa in the fall? That should be interesting, given the content - I'm curious to see how audiences down there respond to it

If Adam does end up doing it, I'd assume it's for the money. Goyband didn't pay well, and booking him costs $7,000, much of which I'm sure he never sees. He has a family to support. You'd think that he could return to Broadway in a different show, though.
Oooh, that's interesting about South Africa. He was supposed to direct another international production, but that ended up falling through, so I'm glad to hear he'll get to do it anyway.
If he does it, I'm sure it will be for the money. That may sound crass, but he's got a family to support and a lot of bills to pay. He can't go on indefinitely without some major income. As he said himself recently, now his decisions are based on what's best for his family.
Adam and Raul would finally be on Broadway at the same time...

He says that a lot during performances - he's like "I'm selling CDs, I have a wife and kids to support..."
I mean its not the worst thing for both of them to do - Rent 10 was last year, and they were both great in that. Anthony just did Without You, which is in the Rent vein so I guess the show is still in both of their systems. And financially speaking, the movie was ok but wasnt over the top in terms of its sales.
If this does happen, I agree that tickets will be hard to come by, so I dont know if I should just go and order one now or wait...ahh, I hate this

I just mentioned this Adam and Anthony thing on the other rent site and people are like "ill believe it when i see it" "this sounds like an april fools joke" and "no way, adam has moved on from that role"
im like ok dont shoot the messenger, jeez
I think it's reputation suicide, but that's just me.

misschung, it's definitely not fair for them to act rudely toward you; you're just reporting what he said. Who knows if the deal will actually go through, but that's not your responsibility.
If this ends up happening, I just wonder why Adam couldn't pick another role on Broadway. I think Anthony seems a lot more emotionally invested in the show, and I can almost imagine him legitimately wanting to come back, but isn't there another show out there that would pay Adam a comparable amount? Maybe not.
I would think Rent would pay the most by far, and there aren't that many other shows with a part for him right now either.
I take way too long thinking about what I"m going to post, or I wouldn't end up sounding like an echo!

their reaction doesnt suprise me, considering a bunch of people posted weird april fools stuff. so whatever, its fangirl blog world - what can you do?
About the Broadway thing, I think that Adam will definetly go to a new show soon, but I'm guessing that he hasnt seen a production that he wants to invest his time in. With this, he already knows the material, its fun and I'm guessing remotely low stress - so maybe thats why. But who knows

Yes, you're right, Chloe.
And you were right about what Adam said about supporting his family - he said something like, "when you have a family, all the decisions you make are for them." So, I really wouldn't be surprised if they're at least in talks to do this.
Awww, Adam you are doing this all because of my birthday in August??? You are just so sweet, you didn't have to be so elaborate! hehe
Let's just take this one day at a time and see what happens!

that's exactly what someone in the audience said last night - they were like "OHH for my birthday!" hehe
if it happens they would be a great present to yourself :o)
Gertrude went to Adam's show last night, right? I am curious to hear the review and if she got to meet him. Nice that there was some Adam/Anthony synchronicity last night
My mom is SO excited, she wants to see them. Heh!

aw. you're lucky that your mom is into broadway. my moms just like "thats nice"
lol
My mom is... interesting. She likes theater... she's the one who got me into it when I was little. But once it became like... my "thing," she would joke that she created a monster. It's a little bit weird for her to look at the person I've turned into, because both my parents are math/science people and my brother and I are hardcore arts kids. Rent was one of those shows my mom always meant to see, but never got around to seeing. Once I fell in love with it, I kept trying to convince her to see it, but my enthusiasm often actually turns her off because she gets annoyed, so her interest totally went out the window once I started asking her to see it. She saw the movie, and liked it a lot, but she had some issues with it -- understandably so -- she said it didn't really make her want to see the show anymore, though. She finally did see it last summer, and loved it, which I was so glad for. She's always liked Adam, and thinks Anthony is fantastic as well, plus she wanted to see the show again in hopes of picking up more detail, so I told her about this possibility and she got really excited.
I think my mom will be basically indifferent to the cast (we're going in August and were planning on seeing Rent anyway), but she does know who Adam is, much to my surprise! She and my aunt were spying on my and my brother's MySpace profiles, and they were like, "Who is 'the sexiness that is Bobby Starr'?" They looked at the profile, and mom said "Adam Pascal? That's that guy from Rent!" and my aunt insisted that it wasn't, and they argued over it. She was all proud of herself when I told her she got it right because I never think she's actually listening when I ramble on about Broadway stuff. Unfortunately, she also said she thought he'd really gone downhill since the Rent movie, which is just crazy. I told her the Bobby Starr pictures aren't his most flattering.
So, that's my Adam story! The more I think about it, the more excited I'm getting about this, actually.

Ash, that is absolutely hysterical. For the record, I really don't think most of those Bobby Starr pictures are flattering at all either, especially some of the ones of him around the set. He looks pale and tired in most of them. I think the webmaster only had those pictures to work with.
My mother cares about my interests, but I don't think she likes Rent enough to see it on stage. She's going to be so dismayed to find out that I'm going to spend so much of my summer income on this, though. I feel incredibly bad for especially Adam, but if they're there, I really can't miss out.
"He looks old now!"
"Mom, he's actually really good-looking for his age."
"Well, he looked a lot better then."

siamese - why do you feel bad for Adam?
Ashley, you should show your mom some recent tour pictures instead. Here are a couple -

Emcee, my mom is the same way. She loves the theater, and brought me up on old musicals, but she tends to get bothered by me pestering her to see a certain show or by listening to the music, over and over. Now, she wants to see Adam live. Which, isn't a bad thing.
Heh, funny story Ash. The Bobby Starr pictures aren't the best i've seen of Adam.
