Emcee's lab mouse is bred to be taught for a semester, then killed because they can't see any further purpose for them. I so didn't need to hear that. Something like that can ruin my day - but it happens constantly, so I'm glad you brought it up.
I've never been one to try and push my vegetarian lifestyle on others. Frankly, if we lived like we did a hundred years ago, I would be more inclined to eat meat. And if I were starving, I know that I would kill a cow in order to survive. The only time I bring it up is when people ask me
why I choose to be vegetarian. When I ask people if they've seen Fast Food nation, and people give responses like "well, the cow was old, he was going to die anyway," then I get irritated. But honestly, if you see a film like that, or are aware of the consequences of meat farming, and you can still eat meat - fine. None of us are in a place to judge.
