Lang. I'm more worried about My World History one on Wednesday.

Is that the same as Euro?

No, I'm not taking Euro.

What's the time span of the class you're taking?

Like, from the beginning of civilization to the present. I'm not even kidding.

Yes. Need I say that the class is a bit rushed?

I don't even understand how that is *remotely* possible. Well, it's possible, but how do you learn anything?!

You don't, not really. It's basically a course on how things change over time, and how one time period affects the next. It's really confusing, because you go by time period, so you're studying the history of a bunch of countries at once instead of focusing on a few.

Hm. I kind of like the concept of studying more than one country, or countries in different areas at the same time, because there are so many points of collision impact. But, I think it's really confusing when teachers go the route of teaching like... however many years of Egypt, and then the same however many years of... Mesopotamia, or whatever, and loop back around in time, because you have to rely on your memory to match up what happened where at the same time as what. I think it would be easier to go entirely chronologically, you know?

Well, that's the idea of the course, but it doesn't really work, because different countries progress at different rates, so you can't say, "Well, from 1300-1600, this was happening" because it's different everywhere. It doesn't help that our textbook doesn't like to be chronological. It goes by "subject", so you can start a new part of a chapter and have gone back 100 years.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Teaching the way the textbook goes confuses me, a lot. I guess there are some periods with a lot of cultural crossover and diffusion going on where the other idea would work, and some where the rates are too different.

I think that students should write a textbook. They actually know what the hell the students need.
I really kind of wanted to take Euro next year, but I've been advised against it.

I loved Euro, BUT if you've been advised against it on good grounds, you should probably take that advice. My high school happened to have a really, really wonderful Euro teacher; he told people the course was more work than it was in order to scare people and weed out those who didn't *really* want to be there. I just took the class, though, not the exam.

I actually want to take the course I signed up for, I just wish there were more years left for me to get a free education!

AP Human Geography.
As in, your last class all year? That's good, isn't it?

Yes, but it means the uncertainty of summer draws near... (and I'm just not really feeling like moving to actually get up and go, heh).

AP Euro might have been in my top 3 classes in my high school career....but you do need a stunning teacher (which I was lucky enough to have).
Yay for finishing more finals! (Boo to realizing the impending future and big decisions of my senior year...you can't make me go to the real world!)

yeah, and the real world sucks. Enjoy your last year of high school! I hated high school, and personally I wouldn't really go back to that time even if I could. But living on my own, trying to support myself... It's crazy. I miss not having any responsibilities! haha
I also regret not going to a 4 year school. I went to a community college and got an associate's degree. I'm still working the same job that I had when I started college. And I really had no intention of using my degree anyway, I just picked the major that I knew would come the most naturally to me. (therefore, the least work). My biggest regret about school is that I owed it to myself to aim higher.
So my advice (even though you didn't ask me!) is don't settle for the easy road. I admire all of you who are taking AP classes. I could have, and I should have. But I didn't. Good grades came easily to me, so I didn't want to challenge myself with the advanced classes.
