Ah, iPods. I got my Mini about 7 months ago, and I don't know how I ever managed to function without it. Back when I had to depend on my Discman, my parents always wanted to kill me when we went on a long car ride because I would wait until the last minute to pick out the CD(s) I wanted to bring with me, and since I tend to be rather bad at making decisions quickly, I would keep everyone waiting. It was also a pain in the ass to pack up my entire CD collection to bring with me when I moved in to my dorm - fortunately, I didn't have to do that this year since it was all stored on the iPod.

The only problem is that now my iPod is almost full (the Mini only holds 6 gigabytes of music, which is about 1500 songs). I know I have to delete some stuff from it, but every time I try to, I keep finding reasons not to get rid of this album or that album - even if something is total teenybopper crap that I liked when I was in 8th grade and didn't know better, when I listen to it I don't hear the crap that it is but the enjoyment it gave me when I was younger, if that makes any sense. Unfortunately, this means I can't load in new stuff that I like now, and buying a second iPod seems ridiculously extravagant.

It's funny, as much as I'm extremely attached to my electronic devices (laptop, iPod, TV, etc.), the idea of giving them names never crossed my mind.

My iPod still needs a name.

did they do away with the mini? I only saw the Nano, shuffle, and big ones on the website. My brother gave me a nice check for Christmas and told me to get an ipod or something fun. :)

I've had a LOT of problems with my iPod Mini (not regarding disk space). Perhaps I'm the only one, though. I also heard the Nanos are a lot better.

My mom likes to call mine "the dinosaur" because she just got a nano and mine is bulky and scratched in comparison. But I don't think that's such a great name.

Yeah, the Nano is replacing the Mini. Not like Mini's will become obsolete, but they don't sell them anymore. That's the thing that's annoying about Apple. There's a new, improved thing like every other week.

I think there was a skit on SNL about the magical shrinking size of the ipods. It got so small that it was invisible.

Heh, my parents both have the iPod Shuffles, and they can never tell if they actually brought it with them because those things are so tiny - seriously, I think I have keychains that are bigger than the Shuffle.

I had heard something about there being a problem with the Nano screens cracking because the unit is so small, but I don't know what the deal is with that.

I read Cybele's blog. Lennon's teacher sounds like a b*tch. I work in a daycare and we go out of our way to accomidate children with food allergies. I did feel a bit invasive though, but, she put it out there, so it's okay I guess.

Yay for Macs. When my laptop dies *knock wood* I'm getting a Mac, but I hope that's later rather than sooner.

Elphie, iPods will still be available long after Company closes, so I would pick the present that has a more immediate time limit on it. But my iPod is my baby and I love it to death.

I work in a daycare too and we have a child who has severe peanut allergies and one who is a vegan. They bring their own cupcakes when there is a birthday and one of the rooms where the kids eat lunch is only for kids without peanuts. That teacher seems a little wacko if you ask me.

Thanks. I still haven't decided, but I'm leaning toward going with something else and trying to work out the Company thing on my own.

Okay! Suggestions:
Raul, Radames, DevilishDiva, BWWBaby, Radulam (is that it, Em?), Ned, Regor, C-Po, Herbert, Alexander, ummmm....I'm all out of brilliant ideas. Adam's Slow Lovin'

Ned wouldn't be a good choice. Look how angsty Roger turned out to be. If Ned took after his namesake as well, Emcee would be in therapy!

I tentatively named my laptop Mimi because it's (dark) blue and a bit sparkly. It does act as if it were on drugs sometimes.

My computer is "iLess" because the letter on the i key rubbed off already and i've only had it since August. :)

Going back to a post on the last page, yes Lennon's teacher is horrible. I posted on the blog as a response to that one. Being a teacher with kids that are allergic to all kinds of things, I feel rather parental about that - they're my kids too, I spend more time with some of those kids than their parents have the opportunity to, just because they're required by law to spend 6 1/2 hours a day at school ... I make sure to memorize and keep notes and call parents if there is a question. I hate watching them have to deal with it, but little kids are so nice to each other. One of our kids is SO allergic to peanuts that he can't eat at the same table as others with PB in their lunch. The kids started purposely NOT bringing PB because then they could sit at his table and not hurt him. I thought at first the kids with severe allergies would feel odd, but it's heartwarming to see how kids take care of each other and want to keep each other safe.

Sorry, rant over :)

Those can be iPod or computer names, whichever you wish! I agree that Ned is not really a very good choice, but I like the name.
